Ok I have a question it might have been answered but I can't find one clear answer.

I have a 89 240sx Sohc 5-speed with a bad tranny I found a 91 twincam 5-speed tranny at a junk yard for a good price. Now will the tranny just bolt up do I need any other twin-cam parts for the tranny to work. Will my Sohc clutch, pressure plate, flywheel bolt on?

I hope I can get one solid answer hopefully from someone thats done it before.

Thanks for all the help

It will work if you use your current flywheel and clutch.

There's no difference in the clutches.

You didn't search, cause it's there.

DOHC tranny will bolt right up to SOHC tranny you'll just have a 4th gear sensor left over (I'm currently in the progress of doing this swap actually!)

Just use the SOHC clutch kit.

I did search and I found that answer but I also found some others that said that the is didnt bolt excatly to the sohc engine or that the soch flywheel was too big so I just want a definative answer.

Thanks

Hey its cool and thanks for clearing up the tranny situation glad to have a board that is so helpful I think I'm going to like owning a 240.

Guys, check the parts between clutch kits.

ACT:
different TO bearing for 91-95, but 89-90 and 96-98 are the same exact kit.

SPEC:
Same TO bearing for all years.

I'm using a stock TO bearing which is different than the SPEC's on my SPEC clutch, no problems.

In other words: SOHC clutch kit makes no sense.

It makes sense when you buy stock.

No, it doesn't.

If the only difference IS the throwout bearing, and the throwout bearing attaches to the TRANSMISSION, it would then be most adviseable to buy for the year of the mission. However, it doesn't matter either way (unless you think it matters, in which case, you should buy the 91 clutch kit).
