powersteering hose question

im looking into getting a new power steering line because mine has been leaking.

i found these replacement ones

These aftermarket hoses run straight down to the rack...My question is..the stock hose has the hardline with a type of sensor attached to it...Whats the purpose of it? and will there be any problems not having it...

you don't need to connect that sensor. i could be wrong, but to my knowledge, that sensor tells the ECU to bump up the idle at full steering lock while idling.

i never connected mine and i got the earls-aeroquip hose from ebay just as you linked above. you won't regret that purchase. i suggest while changing that sucker out, you just drain the current PS fluid and put new fresh auto tranny fluid in there (yes auto tranny fluid NOT PS fluid, don't ask me how i know).

I would also like to know. When i changed my hose a while back on my hb the connector wouldn't come loose so i ended up just cutting the wires. was gonna re-splice the connector but got lazy. car runs fine still, no check engine light on or anything but still curious what that connector is for..

atf is thicker, and is a hydrolic fluid. The FSM says use atf.

sensor is to bump up idle when steering, you can test it.
disconnect it and turn the wheel youll see the idle drop, plug it back in and turn the wheel and it wont change that much
