i'm awaiting the arrival of my intrax springs and tokico shocks & struts. i've heard that the intrax r the way to go if u want a better ride and that they stay true to the drop they say they r going to, but the eibach's tend to be lower than what it says. not in ne way saying the eibach's r bad though. i guess i was just looking for something that rides good since my 240 is also my daily driven car.

That seems like a lot of drop to me. I think you are going to have a problem with shocks/struts that can handle the drop and still give you damping (i.e., you will be on the bump-stops which is horrible for both ride and performance). For that much drop, you will likely need a coilover set up with short stroke dampers. $$$$ Maybe the Apexi or the GC coils are your only choice.

that much drop is insane without 19inch rims.... i'd go for a 1.7 front 1.2 rear type of drop... that way ur ride wouldn't be GONE completely.. but i'd listen to hippo he knows his stuff.

I have the WS coilovers. The ride is pretty good at a drop of around 1.5 all around. Any lower and it gets a little bouncy. Still not that bad though. Handling is greatly improved. The car now handles like a go-cart. All I need now is LSD!!

Spring/shock: if I were looking for maximum drop while maintaining ride quality, I'd go kg/mm springs and HTS dampers. The springs are a bit stiffer, but you will need that when going low. The HTSs are adjustable and, as I've heard, are slightly shorter stroke than the others out there. I've heard great praise from a long-time 240 enthusiast who is also a serious autocrosser over this set up. Bad news is that the parts are JDM - so you will have to get them imported, which takes some time. I know someone who is getting the HTSs soon - I'll post up when he does.

Coils - I don't know as much about a full set up for Nissans, as I am newer to the car and haven't been considereing them for my car. I've heard about the standards - Zeals, Teins, and Apexi. All offer significant lowering options while maintaining some ride quality. But it will be much firmer than you may want if you live somewhere with weather (and potholes). I think the WS seem to be a well liked model with a reasonable price and good performance. You lose some of the features of the more exotic set ups, but you get what you pay for.

Hope this helps.

Okay, I take back the info on the Apexi WS coils. I just heard about someone who had a shaft break. Better still, someone else said the same thing happened to them. The guy claims to have contacted Apexi who first claimed that they were about to pull them from the market, and then that he didn't follow the Japanese directions properly for installation. Two cases of the same thing makes me a bit suspicious of the product - shock shafts should NOT break!!

####, that scares me. If you can, keep us informed on what Apexi does about this. They can't use that "didn't follow the Japanese instructions" thing on me because I can read Japanese. Even if you couldn't read it, installation is pretty self-explanatory. What the #### would go wrong in installation that would cause the shaft to break?

tanabs - I guess the wrinkle in the directions was to remove some type of spacer at the top if you were lowering your car more than one inch. With hand sketched pictures, Japanese instructions, and the fact that a coilover comes assembled, my non-kanji reading ass would have missed it too - and I've installed several suspensions on cars.

I just read that after consistant bitching, Apex agreed to send him a new strut - from JAPAN - at a cost of $165 for SHIPPING!!

... mind you, this thing broke on a freeway and, only because he was lucky enough to have the rod wedge into the coils and keep it relatively in place, the wheel was sitting at a 45 degree angle. Not a happy thought - 65+ mph and having your susp come apart!

BTW: they skirted the warranty issue b/c the packaging, like so much of what we add to our cars, said "not for hiway use." If I hear anything more, I will update you all.

45 degree angle? OOUUCCHH! I think I'm gonna go give my car a hug.
