Can a power steering pump, with no fluids lock up? and start making a knocking sound? The car was being driving normally, with all fluids topped off...
I was driving my car this morning to work ( No ps) and as soon as I pull in I hear this knocking.
Turn of the car immediately and pop the hood. It seemed like the serpentine belt was smoking a little bit like it had been rubbing on something on the side near the ps pump.
Turn it back on, and the noise continues, By looking at it and listening closely the sound does not come from the motor but from the ps pump (area)
After I turn it on later on, the noise is alot quieter and no smoke wtf. Car runs just a good as before idk whats wrong
I'm trying to figure out what the hell is the noise, I'm trying to sell the car and don't want to sell something bad to someone.
The serpentine belt has only started making noise in startup and was going to be replace tomorrow.
What do you think it is? Diagnosis or suggestions?
