I have tried errverything w/ this wastegate and still it creeps. I have my pressure source on the hotpipe ran to the side port on the gate w/ the top port open. I have tried switching the pressure source to the nipple on the throttle body, even worse. I have literally ran out of ideas. It has a 1 bar spring and it opens at about 15 psi and by 6k it's at 17 or better. This is a new motor so i haven't even done any full RPM pulls yet because i can't get control of my Boost.

My last idea is to swap springs w/ a friends or swap the entire wastegate itself.

Has anybody has this problem w/ their 1 bar spring and does anyone have any other suggestions?

a lot of times boost creep can come from the manifold design... what manifold are u running?

What turbo size is it.... you may need a 44mm

i have ran many tials 38 and countless 44's .. your problem lies in the manifold..

Not necessarily... Your 38mm might not be able to flow enough exhaust gas to keep it from creeping... I'd go with a 44mm and see if that fixes your problem, which it should.

yeah you need a bigger wastegate.... that 38mm cant flow enough to keep the boost in check, get a 44mm and call it a day

How much for the Tial and what color? :)

It's silver, dont know if i'm gonna sell it yet. Also, how am I supposed to go about running the 44mm when it's flanged for the 38mm???

Buy an adapter or the best way, pull the manifold and cut the flange off and weld the v-band flange that comes with a new gate on there?

I'm really not buying that the 38 mm gate is too small. I have heard of too many cases of people running the same/similar turbo and 20 psi and had no issues. Let me ask this though. Under normal circumstances, do external wastegates begin to open 1-2 psi before spring pressure and then settle at the rated boost pressure, or are they supposed to stay completely closed until the rated spring pressure and then slam open and hold steady??? Because the way mine does it opens at 15 psi and climbs to 17 and holds steady up to the redline. Mine is supposed to have a 1 bar spring but they may have accidentally installed a 1.2 bar spring that is like 17.x psi.

You can mod the inside of the collector to fix that. Its probably a manifold thing or trip check all your fittings and lines for leaks. We had issues on some manifold but then other guys dont.. we started to change how in put the tube and flange into the collector about 2 years ago. The 38mmTiAL has a 35mm id flange and the 44mmTiAL has a 40mm id flange so those adapter things are ghetto and dont even use the 44mm the way a new manifold flange would.

Try a lower spring so like a Big Red/11.6 or Big Green spring/13.. might lower it some for you. Maybe small dumptube lol who knows. bunch of variables... Electric boost controllers help.. AEM has that new one with gauge for like $250

tial 38mm was a poor design it creeps with any turbo and manifold peakboost manifold is nice with the 44mm flange

Are you running your wastegate as a boost controller??? Seems to me like it is working like it should and you need a boost controller to regulate the vacuum better. What boost are you trying to run?

i run the same turbo and the same gate on a log mani and have no creep problems at gate pressure with no boost solenoid hooked up (have not raised past .9bar yet, fresh motor). as others have said, a lot of it is in the merge design of the gate runner/flange. but that is a pretty quality manifold so....
Are you clamping your vac lines?

Right now I have no boost controller hooked up. No, I'm not clamping my lines, the lines are so tight i didn't think i needed to, but at this point i'm willing to try anything. I want to run gate pressure honestly and use a controller to run 18-19 max on pump gas. I will eventually run 20+ w/ race gas but that's down the road. When i dynoed the car the other day it crept up to 18 psi and held, but I hate having to keep an eye on the gauge.

i think either your vac source is leaking or the diaphram is pinched
