trying to remove my ecu so i can pull codes, but i cant get the damn thing out. there is a piece of the dash that wont allow it to come forward. i know there is a very simple solution, i just cant figure it out

unplug the wireing and wiggle it down and out.

Just pull it out.

why can't you pull codes with it in the car?

pull the dash outward with left hand -> life ECU and cage with right hand to clear that notch -> and wiggle it until you can get it out....

its really not that hard man, the dash is fairly flexible

lol, FYI if you unplug it you cant' pull codes.

there's like two screws holding it in.


he has to pull it out somewhat to screw the potentiometer and look at the LED.

cant you lean it to the left?

i have a S13, just did this last night actually.
i usually twist the front (facing front of car), left and thats how i get to it.
you have to kind of push the harness under the front corner as you do it, but then it stays pluged in, and i can check codes.

What he said. Then clip that tab off with a pair of snips so next time you're not confused.
