View Full Version : Has anyone here bagged their suspension on your 240?

If so, does it hold up to hard driving side loads ( like drifting )? What brand? There is a system called Ksport Airtech air ride suspension that is a bag over coilover type cartridge shocks that have rebound and dampening adjustability. Now I know most of you will flame me for bringing up Ksport and competitive driving in the same thread but I didn't design it and they claim that it holds it's own on the track. Just wondering if anyone has or knows of someone who has it and drove it hard.
If it does work as advertised, this would solve so many ground clearance issues for low 240s. Most bagged suspension that I've seen when pumped up a little felt slushy, which would be absolutely scary in a high speed sweeper.

Please post your thoughts on this, thank you very much

Uh ..yeah I did search in the Tech talk and didn't find anyone that post their experience using air ride suspension

damn i thought yesterday's read on my350z was weird: someone asked if it was acceptable to rattle-can their body kit on a silverstone metallic 350Z and wondered if it would match, complaining that they are too broke to afford real paint and body

but this post takes the cake, now i feel like im on club lexus. dude, suspension like this has no place on a 240sx.

Agreed. I think the topic you're looking for is more like : "How do I take a very well balanced car with superior handling traits and completely ruin it by making it look like a 1986 Mazda B2200 on the wrong side of town?"

You can probably still find him at HIN or NOPI, since that is all the car is good for.

lmao!!

Why air ride??
This car isnt on air ride.
Its on coils and competes at high level events.

Maybe he got it working now and could tell you?

I actually like Gregs vert on bags! I've seen it in person and it looks really good when its dropped

EDIT: OP, check out Ksport USA. I think you can still drift on their bag suspension

I'd be down to bag my shiz

Just not with KSport

But yeah as far as 240 goes, you can easily slam your car enough with coilovers

I'd save the money for air ride on a "fancier" car

oh gawd, not that video.

Just cause some fucking idiot did it to his money pit in JDM land, doesnt give it any credit.

Bags are for old Merc's and Deluxe sidesteps, long bed Ford trucks and VW bugs.
Not sports cars/coupes.

You can see that S13/S14's actually ride lower without them.
And if you live in an area that you cant ride at a low hieght, then you should be banned for getting airbags just for hard parking.

LOL. Hard parking is where it's at :keke:

Its a neat idea... but I think just straight coilovers are more functional.

here is my problem with a bag'd 240. Bags work inversely to how you want coils to work. Normally if you have a stock ride height car you want the suspension to be softer because obviously you are going for comfort/easy of driving. if you have it lowered you have it stiff because you are going for handling or performance. With a bag setup(and I have ZERO experience with this. This is all my assumptions) when it is at stock ride height the bag has higher pressure in it causeing the bag to be stiffer where as when you lower it the bag has low pressure in it causeing the susspention to be soft.

Like I said I don't really know but that is how it sounds to me.

You could go with a coil type body with an air over bag. Then you can adjust spring rate and ride height separately. With that setup you could go super low but also get a quick lift to get up a driveway or over a speed bump.

I'm all for air-over type suspension. You would theoretically(I say that because I have no first hand experience) have the best of both worlds. I think with a conventional air ride you would ruin what is good about the ride of an S chassis.

Good stuff.

Ahahaha

The same losers knocking air bags in this thread barely know what it is in the thread S14DB pointed out.

Yeah op, do some better searching. There's such thing as performance airbag setup, just not really a great way to spend your money since the traditional coilovers should offer you what you need.

If Tein or some other JDM brand were to make cost effective air suspension, I'm sure these guys would be all over it like flies on shit.

Read that thread starting from when yokotaS13 chimes in, or even that sc300 guy, since they're actually one of the few who have experiences with it.

word, airbag setups that use your typical coilover damper are generally STIFFER than springs, even when you want to drag on the ground.

Not to Ethug, but I would watch who you call out as a "loser"
SoCal isnt that big and you can dig a hole for yourself real quik down here.
If you plan on being in the scene down here and getting help and going to events, then you should really be a bit more respectful of the people who do ALOT for the community here in CA.

Now if you read what I stated,
"I am curious about daily use. Cause I would like to have a S14 thats really low on some Works for my daily.
But I dont want the ruff ride. Dates dont really dig it either.
So If I could raise my car on bags, would it ride comfortable??"

I clearly state that this is for everyday use. Basically So I can get out of my driveway, park in the Arclight parking garage, Disney Parking garage, Beach Parking, etc.

The OP is talking about a strickly performance application.

So I stick by both things I said. They are meant for 2 completely different applications.
As far as knowing what air bags are, Your ASSumptions are a little off. I was riding in Airbagged trucks in 1992.
but hey, thats for your 2cents.

BTW, my name is the same as my SIG, Eric Castro.
See ya round at some point Im sure.
