how do you know if its going bad because i had a friend tell me that its going bad cause of the chain tapping on the valve cover and being off timed it also makes a weird tapping sound when i start my car

any info how to change it out would be helpfull because this is my first time messing with internalls on a nissan

also do's and what not to do's

other than that i lose power after 3k and my freind says im misfiring and my car kinda sounds like a subie
