No this isn't about rim clearance. Moving on, I am putting 300zx iron 30mm cals up front and my buddy gave me some 30mm rotors from an alum setup. He told me they were machined 1mm down on both sides when resurfacing. I put them on the car to test fit and there is a god awful amount of space between the pads and the rotors (yes I know it will compress when the pedal is pressed). I was wondering if this was safe, I am going to the track in about a month or so, should I just buy new rotors?

Do you have a Caliper(Ruler) to measure how thick the Rotor is?

It is slightly thicker than a q45 rotor, I know that much, I'll take a reading tomorrow and see what it is.

Okay the rotor thickness is about:

28.5 mm

28mm is the minimum. You'll be fine but I don't think you will be able to resurface them again.
