When I bought my s14 the guy gave me a manuel tranny and he didnt know if it was a s13 or s14. Does anyone know how I can find out with gen the tranny came out from.

You could start by looking at it. That always helps me identify shit.


SOHC - reverse, neutral, and 5th gear switches
DOHC - adds 4th gear switch
S14 - adds CPS, deletes 4th gear switch

lol yea I know I looked at it but any thing signiffigant between the 2 trannys

As Russ Stated

S14 has a Crank Position Sensor on the top of the bellhousing
S13 Does not

other than that pretty much the same tranny

or you could just try bolting it up and hope it works.

Please don't come in and confuse shit. They're the same unit, 89-98, no matter the differences in switches. Unless the kid tries to put it in backwards it will bolt up.
