View Full Version : Uh oh, Leaking fuel...

Okay, so I just went to the gas station to fill up. I got back home, was working in my garage, when I could of swore I smelled gas, so I go check my car, and sure enough it's leaking from the middle or where you pump it and the actual Tank. Is there a seal of some sort? or hose? Or do I just need a completely new fuel tank?

is it leaking from the fill tube or is the tank leaking??

That's what im saying, in between the fill tube and the opening to the tank.

oh ok there is an oring there, remove the splash panels and there are a few bolts holding the fill tube to the tank, remove those and replace the o-ring.

Do you know the diameter and the thickness of the oring?

i would go to dealer, IIRC you cant use a regular rubber oring, has to be buna, or vitron, or some shit like that, but you can go to a junk yard and get a whole bunch of used ones.

Pull off the inner liner and check, there's a few places it can leak in that area. Might just be a loose clamp.

There was like, 6-8 bolts, I could get to all of them but one.

It's the tube that goes into the tank.

Right were it meets the tank is where its leaking.

I put Sealer and gasket maker on it for now seeing that I couldn't get that last bolt.

Im thinking about just upgrading to a fuel cell.

Or drop the tank. It's two bolts. Seriously. Fuel will eat right through most anything you put on it. Do it right.

Well, this was a special sealer that is oil and fuel resistant.

But, the other problem is that one screw snapped of when I screwed it it.

I didn't even feel it getting tight and it snapped off.

Plus I would have to sit and syphon all the gas out.

Ill probably drop it when It's on E.
