first off the question=

I'm planning on doing LSD swap on my non-lsd 97 240sx. I read on how I could just use an infiti j30 or a non turbo 300zx differential. But lately had no luck on finding any around my area, (Tucker, Ga) and I want a new one so my dad won't trip on me bout using used car parts (the car is still in his name).

If I were to buy a aftermarket LSD (preferably quaife) would that be all I need? Or do I have to get axles off the J30 or another 240sx with LSD in order for that to work.

Just in case yall ask my car is a 1997 240SX SE (supposdly the previous owner of the car wanted an SE but wasn't willing to put in the extra cash for ABS and LSD)

there has been a couple threads about this lately.

Quaife - Drops right into the open diff pumpkin and uses open diff shafts. (when you go to order it just say you want the R200 unit with 12mm ring bolts)

Kaaz - you need to buy special shafts from them (run like $300 I believe

ATS - uses open diff parts

Nismo - uses open diff parts (not 100% sure on that one)

Cusco - ?

Nismo can bolt to both VLSD shafts and also open diff shafts, you just gotta specify which one you have when you order.

Also, sorry to thread-jack, but is there any kind of LSD that is a good compromise for Auto-X AND drifting?

FYI: Kaaz's new diff accepts open diff flanges.
