steering wheel hub install ?

I just have a quick question, i installed a hkb look-alike steering wheel hub from ebay, and it came with some sort of ring the size of the horn button. I installed the hub without the ring, is it okay to do so? or does this ring have a "crucial" purpose to the hub. answers would be appreciated,

if ur horn works, then i think ur fine

but dont take my word...thats what i think
cuz that ring is probably for the horn

I did the same thing with mine, you're fine. I think it's for a different wheel so the horn button still clicks into the hub.
