Can someone tell me who built this car that I just got? I was told it was possibly built by someone in Utah and that's as far as I have got. The person I got it from and the person he got it from were both ND residents (that I know). I Know this is a long shot but, I figured I'll never get any of my questions answered about this car without one of two things happening. Either talking to the guy that did the work or tearing the car down to find out myself. I'm hoping to not have to do the latter as this thing runs soooo nice, I'd hate to have to start tearing apart the car just to find out what's been done to it. Now, on to the pics.

why would you need to tear it down?? i dont get it?

Or are you talking engine internals??

Did you try carfax yet?
It should show you the previous owners right?? Or just if its been in accidents and when it fails smog??

Someone tell him before he buys a carfax!! :)

I am actually referring to the rear diff and trans/clutch be more precise. I'm assuming that the engine is as it was on the crate "overnight parts from JAPAN" Hahahaha.

Why fix it when if its not broke? Leave it as it is till you need to work on it.

^agreed.

Find anyone with some decent drift or even really good grip experience, and they can tell you what the diff is from 3 minutes in a parking lot.
All the different Diff's react different when on and off the gas and how fast they lock.
Im also assuming its not an open diff??

And the tranny/clutch, till it starts slipping,do nothing, just like fliprayzin240sx (http://zilvia.net/f/members/fliprayzin240sx.html) stated.
You could switch tranny fluid to make sure its tip top since you dont know the history.

I wasn't planning on doing anything to it till it needs repair. It would just be nice to know what you have y'know? And yes it is an LSD. That's all I know.

Why not remove the diff, pop it open, and see what it is? Not like you need to tear the entire rear end down to get it out. You get to change the oil in that too. You know, to make sure it's clean.

That I may do anyway but, I really don't want to do that for the clutch. LOL. I'm just hoping someone recognizes the car.

Again, why do you feel a NEED to do it to the clutch??

you're really starting to baffle a lot of people here.

Shit, its probably an autozone clutch anyways.

LOL it's just too hard to type 'dunno who built it' for some and resist the urge to question your every action. GL finding the owner/builder

Haha. I'm not going to pull the clutch. Not just to find out what it is. I just would like to know some more about the car that I'm driving that's all. The clutch and diff were just the most sought after answers. There's alot more I'd like to know about this car hence me wanting to speak to the person that built it. Knowing what I'm starting with also makes it a heck of alot easier to determine my eventual modification proccess. Does this make more sense?

^Actually were trying to help him.

We have suggested CarFax.
And are trying to convince him its things that he doesn't need to know that bad. As to save him Alot of time.
We have also suggested several ways for him to figure out his Diff Question.

If you ask me, We are helping him and keeping this thread alive for a little bit, so he has a better chance to have a member recognize the car.

just my:2c:

Makes sense man.
I just think that we are curious why you cant just look and know the MOD's. Besided Engine internals.

Its a beatiful car, and I always love that two tone combo. What else has been done?
Are the dash buttons kinda miss matched??
When are you getting new seats? lol I always hated those ones :)

Keeping it alive for a lil bit longer is not a bad idea but not my intentions. At least not this way. I get the feeling I'm making some people frustrated which also, is not my intentions. I just want to know what I'm sitting on here so I dont spend $$ unnecessarily on mods I dont need. Please forgive my ignorance and maybe poor choice of words.

I actually like the seats a lil. But they will get changed eventually. As far as the buttons being mismatched... I dont know enough about these cars to know if they are or not. I'll post some pics and maybe you can shed dome light on whether or not they are. Other obvious stuff done are GTI-r T28 turbo, smaller front mount i/c, full 3" turbo back exh (cat delete), rear subframe aluminum bushings, Tein HA's with adj front pillow mounts, Nardi steering wheel, Blitz BOV, Blitz Maf adapter and filter, Silvia front with 3 projector headlights and aero bumper, old school Volk GTP 3pc wheels staggered.

Sounds like a good deal man.

Does the cigarette lighter work? lol

and does the dash carpet really say "2 DEEP" ??

Anyways, good purchase man and good luck on tracking it down.

Pull the clutch fork dust boot and shine a flashlight up there and take a look.

Ya the lighter works and yes the dash pad does in fact say "2 DEEP" Haha. the dash is cracked (as I'm finding out they all do) and that was on there when I got it. I think its f@@king great and plan on keeping it on there for a while even when I replace the dash.

And thanks S14DB for the advice. That's something I never thought of doing. I may have a bore scope available to use in this situation.

There is no point in doing it for the clutch. If the clutch grabs, doesn't slip, etc, just drive on it until you need a new one. Problem solved.
