Ive been replacing my stock clutch on my 240sx every 3 to 4 months. Someone told me that because I have an LSD, it makes my clutch work harder and that I should get a performance clutch. Could that be it?? Oh, forgot to mention, I don't even run or drift with the car.

Doesn't make sense why it would affect your clutch, tell your friend he's silly.

...psst, wanna sell me your Lsd, since youre kinda not using it?? eh? :hs:

the clutch has to work harder if you have a welded

not so much with an LSD, i dont think that is your problem.

Yeah you probably don't know how to drive stick correctly, or your clutch pedal isn't disengaging all the way.

is there any other symptom with the car at all?

if it's stock with a diff it shouldn't cause any problems besides tires wearing faster

yes, LSD's wear out clutches.

Thats why no OEM manufacturer EVER puts any sort of limited slipping differentializer in their cars...

Does it feel like it engages immediately when you lift it off the floor? Maybe it's not adjusted right.

its not that it wears out, its that some of the springs on the clutch break off.

Not just 240s, Nissan put VLSDs in a few cars.

are you riding your clutch waiting on a stop lights ? or going back and forth on a steep hill. kills the life of your clutch.

The clutch isn't wearing out. The little springs break off on the clutch.

I think the OP is going thru so many clutches because he doesn't break them in right and drives it too hard for what it is.

Its a stock replacement from Autozone.
The stock Nissan clutch is better than that one.
Autozone clutches are meant for old ladies who daily drive and NEVER push their car hard.
You can't abuse them.

I don't abuse it. I don't even run or drift with the car for that reason. Can having transmission problems (3rd & 4th grind when making change) take part in it?

Well, it IS Autozone.
They aren't known for quality.
You literally have to baby it for the first 500 miles.
and since its an Autozone clutch..
you have to baby it for the entirety of its life. hahaha

For that clutch, shifting past 3.5k would probably cause fast wear.

Also, transmission grind doesn't have much to do with the actual clutch wearing out
and more with the gears and synchros in your tranny wearing out.
^might not even be the tranny, could be low fluid causing the grind.

So would getting a performance clutch prevent it from breaking so fast?

I dont think it has anything to do w/ your LSD or Autozone.
I beat the shit out of my car with a autozone clutch for a year no problem and even took it out to a few auto-x events before I did a SR swap(and you cant beat lifetime warranty lol). And since you said its just the springs breaking, its definately something else.

what could it be then?

Totally didn't catch that part about the springs.

Interesting.. I don't know.
The springs are there to make shifting less harsh and take some of the shock away.
Either its clutch kicks/clutch drops are killing your clutch or you just had really bad luck 4 times in a row.

and to the other guy with an Autozone clutch...
which one do you have?
They currently have 4 different kinds available. 3 different brands i think?
If you have one of the better ones, then of course it would take more abuse.

The bottom dollar one sucks, period.
