I caught one, but only after nearly shitting on myself and my adrenaline pumping not to get bitten! It's like a military bio weapon project gone awry. When I was deployed there was an episode of hilarity involving a camel spider. Imagine an entire fire team of soldiers freaking the fuck out as they are sitting around taking a break when one of these things showed up. I was laughing/running at the same time.

We shot it.

Since then that's been my spider policy. Bigger than a quarter and outside? Shoot it. Been working out pretty well.

Whenever I find a black widow in a car that I am working on I soak it in carb cleaner untill it falls on the ground and burn the fucker. Those bastards LOVE to hide in cars. I was removing an engine from a truck that had been sitting in our storage yard for like a year. I spent about 45 mins with a blow gun blowing out every single nook and cranny trying to get all the spiders out of it. The friggin ground was COVERED with little spiders, but no black widows. I went to remove the alternator and a black widow crawled up my hand!

I finally had a minute to edit this vid off my camera. I started raising Praying Mantis's last year, I buy the cocoons off Ebay. The corn fed mantises come from the mid west. California's do not get this big. Anyway, I have a big garden area in my backyard so i thought what the heck. Here is one of the offspring of my many hundreds of babie's i released. I kept about 30 of them. This is Jack, he is 4" long. One day i decided to drop a baby lizard in his cage. He ate the lizard like it was a side of baby back ribs. They mainly eat crickets or eachother if there is no food. Fruit flies when they are babies.

When I was a kid my dad had a basement office with a window, and a window well that cut into the earth.

After a couple of years the well accumulated all sorts of Wolf spiders, Daddylong Legs, jumping spiders, and Black Widows - when me and brother weren't watching them eat each other we'd take turns taking them out using a beebee gun.

Then one year Praying Manti showed up. Every year, from late Spring until just before Fall, we'd have this Insect Deathmatch League play out their brutal contests.

It was bad ass!
