Need input for Fantasy league!

Ok guys, I enter a fantasy racing leage each year. I have been busy with the impending growth of my family,so haven't had much time to study my drivers. So I am looking for some input. Here are the guidelines...

pick one driver from each group in all four series (see notes on
F1 and CART below). You may, if you think you've got inside info, give up a pick from one group and pick another driver from any LOWER group instead. Say for example that you don't think that Paul Tracy has "got it" anymore: you may decline to pick a driver from CART group 1 and instead pick an additional driver from CART group 2

That's a damb tough league. I also don't get why you would skip a Group 1 pick b/c there are more than enough likely winners there.

At any rate, I am not a junkie and don't claim any knowledge.

F1 - Group 1 - YES. Group 2 - the "other" Schumacher. Group 3 - G.Fisichella. Group 4 ("G4") - Panis. [n.b. G3 is a guess based on little exposure and G4 is a TOTAL guess - basically anyone BUT daMatta]

CART - G1 - P.Carpentier. G2 - M.JourdainJr. G3 - write in (A. Fernandez, if he's racing there again) - if not, O.Servia. [I know very little about CART.

NASSCAR - G1 - M.Martin. G2 - J.Burton. G3 - R.Gordon. G4 - L.Foyt.

IRL - G1 - H.Castro-Neves. G2 - F.Giaffone. G3 - R.Buhl. G4 - V.Meira.

Any matches?

before i answer this........how is your point system structured? is it only points for finishing position? or do you get points for things such as laps completed, laps lead, pole, etc........

since some drivers have a tendency to not finish, and some teams/cars have a tendency to self destruct, your point system becomes crucial information.

Points Scored

Drivers score points for finishing in the top eight positions in each
race during the season. There will also be a couple of bonus point
opportunities. If you pick the series champion for ALL FOUR SERIES
correctly you will get a 25 point bonus. If you get three out of the
four correct, you will get a 5 point bonus. Additionally, if you pick
any of the final top three finishers in the World Rally Championship,
you will get bonus points. They will be 25 for picking first, 15 points
for second, and 5 points for third. And finally, sometime in April
there will be a special mailing with the drivers list for the INDY 500.
Each team will be allowed to pick a 5th driver for the 500 due to it's
importance in the "grand scheme" of things.

Points will be scored in each of the four series as follows:

Formula 1, CART, and IRL - 14/10/8/6/5/4/3/2 for
1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th/6th/7th/8th

NASCAR - 8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1 for 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th/6th/7th/8th

F1, CART, NASCAR, IRL "Series Champion" bonus - 25 points for picking
all 4, 5 points for picking 3 of 4

WRC 1st place - 25 points, 2nd place - 15 points, 3rd place - 5 points
BECAUSE OF SPECIAL CIRCOMSTANCES IN FORMULA 1 this year, there is only
one choice in group 1. That means that all teams will get M.Schumacher.
While this is good for team spirit, it lessens the differences between
the teams, so we have decided to allow an additional pick from group 2.
Essentially you still have a 4 person F1 team, along with your
complementary M. Schumacher pick. THIS MEANS THE F1 TEAMS THIS YEAR
WILL HAVE 5 DRIVERS TOTAL!

BECAUSE OF SPECIAL CIRCOMSTANCES IN CART this year, there are only 3
groups to choose from. Each team will get an additional pick from group
2 to make a total of 4 drivers.

Don't like the scoring - and I didn't see the WRC list. Aren't all of the WRC teams about staffed and ready for picking? (BTW: I pick anyone driving a Peugeot for every group :cool: ).

instead of giving everybody schuey, i would eliminate him.

F1
G2: as mark said......rUBenZ yO!, after him i would take JPM.
G3: i don't know much bout these guys, but i would go with Button or Frentzen (Villenueve for sure if you think they can keep that damn thing running)
G4: McNish (i think toyota will do well this year), or DaMatta (who is he driving for?)

CART
G1: Carpantier; i watched some pretty impressive drives by him last year
G2: from here on out i would just pick drivers that are on the same team from last year, and using the same powerplant.

IRL
G1: DeFerran, Hornish
G2: Scheckter, Brack

NASCAR

i'm fairly familiar with F1, the drivers, and their teams. somewhat familiar with CART, marginally with IRL, and not at all with NASCAR.
so take it FWIW.

i don't like the scoring either.

Also, WRC, I'd say that pegeot is going to win with ford second and citreon third. How did they get both McRae and Sainz?
