Its an 89 hatch all stock, manual. Ive beat up on it in the past here and there but mostly it has been driven very easy like any other daily driver. I drove it on a two hour trip 3 weeks ago and a little smoke started coming through the shift boot smellin like tranny fluid. My other car is still having its motor rebuilt so I had to continue driving the 240. Ive driven since that trip with no smoke, so I pretended like it didnt happen and I kept driving (not the smartest idea but damn, im busy lol). Well yesterday smoke started coming from the shift boot, again smelling like tranny fluid. So im burning tranny fluid, im gonna take a look at it today after I finish some paperwork and eat some breakfast.

Im just wondering what yall might think the cause would be? So i can have a little more direction when i go take a look at it.

Im thinking maybe a seal but im not sure, any info would be appreciated.
