okay, what would be the disadvantages of buying an s13 w/ a lot of miles if u were to do the sr swap in the near future.

my s13 fastback just rolled over 100k and the only problems I've had are brake rotors, belts and flat tires.  Rotors were just warped a little so I got them ground and replaced the pads for like...200 or something...the belts were just old and I thought they could be replaced.  I got that done along with an oil leak from hopping a curb mid-drift and my alignment done all for 300 bucks.  The guy I bought mine from had just done the 90,000 mile maintenance which covers just about everything.  I would say don't buy one unless they have maintenance records.

thanks for the info zephyr. i just wanted to add more quick question. if u get an sr swap through like unstable hybrids, should u still have like 1k just for ne problems that may occur? what if u buy a car w/ an sr in it already?

with any kind of motor swap.. take the expected ammount $$$ and double it.. and you should be fine

I don't have an engine swap and I still keep 1k in a savings account just in case shit happens

I don't see any problem with buying a car with more than 100k on it. As long as it's either a Nissan, or a Toyota. VW's go for a long time too, but I don't like em.
Seriously though... my car is going to hit 120k soon, and I haven't had any problems with it other than shocks.

I've got a quick question...there's a 90 240sx fastback here for sale for VERY CHEAP and i'm considering it.....only problem is it has 200,000 miles (not sure if that's a problem? i'll be doing an sr swap) and there is some minor rust in the rear wheel wells and under the doors (where the side skirts would be?).    I was just wondering if the rear quarter panels are removeable or if it's a cut and weld job.  Should i even bother?

sorry about the novel i just wrote..just in need of a car.

hey man i saw your considering buying an s13. i have have 2. now if you can try and stay away with the 89-90 model. try for a 91-93 15 extra hp. with the ealy s13 they had a fuel injector problem i had to replace 2 on my 89 and it had 160k on it other then that it ran great. i bought my 92 with 69k now its got 71k no problems. my friend bought a 91 with 93k and sold it with 100k  with no problems ever happening. as for buy one with over 100k i say go for it these ka motors are strong. just use your jugement on how the car is over all if it looks taken care of and hopefuly not beaten go for it. parts for these cars are avalible and not extreamly expenceive (sp?). all in all the 240 ka24 is a strong motor and 100k on one should be like nothing as long as some basic mantnece was done. good luck.

I bought my Canadian S13 with 107k miles on it (yes. . miles hehe. . it was converted. . LEGALLY) and had no problems. . that bitch prolly had 140+ on it when I traded it, but who knows.. thing stopped turning over at 114,052 haha. . sorry. . I know . .I was too lazy to fix it. .

Anyway. . only problem I had was to replace my clutch slave or master cylinder, forget which... did that immediately. . and it was cheap. . had it installed for around 200. . no biggy. . timing chain was rattling tho. . so I traded it =)

i've put away the idea of getting an s13 n putting money into it. i'm just gonna keep my s14 n take things one step at a time instead of trying to do it all at once w/ an s13. thanks for the info though.

just remember that if you get intake/headers/exhaust etc etc if you DO do an engine swap it will all have to be replaced

yeah, that's why i've decided i'm not gonna get headers or nething like that, i think i might just get an exhaust to keep me entertained for a while and i got the intake for free w/ the car. i'll use my money elsewhere on my car for now w/ stuff like suspension, rims, etc.
