So I am getting my truck rustproofed this winter. This is the first time i get a vehicle rustproofed.

I am getting some little rust fixed on the truck and the body guy told me he also does rust proofing. It's 200$ and it's paraffin. He puts everywhere except under the car since he says it'll just get washed away.

Canadian Tire, local Wal-Mart type store, does it with grease for like 80 bucks.

I could go to Metropolitan (I don't know if you guys have this in the States, but they are a huge chain in Quebec.) They use oil I believe and they charge like 100-120 I think. They drill holes.

What should do you guys recommend? There is also a Krown near here.

I have no idea if this paraffin deal is any good.

Thanks!

parraffin is found in a lot of rustproofing compounds. It's usually works pretty good. It doesn't become brittle or loses it's adhesion. It's a pretty standard product and $200 is a good price.

No one gave any reasons on SON, they just told me to go there. I was wondering if someone here could explain the pros and cons of the different types of rust proofing (oil/grease/paraffin).

You would be better off finding soem POR-15. It goes on like a house paint. It won't wear off.

i dont like Krown because when you go to work on the vehicle its covered in oil everywhere :(

i would also stay away from crappy tire and walmart.

go to a shop that specializes in that sort of stuff.
