I cooked up a nice steak and rice dinner with some friends this evening, and enjoyed some Troegs Troeginator Double Bocks with it. Fantastic example of the style, and better yet: Brewed Locally! Poured it (from bottle) in my Tumbler Pint glass for myself and my friends. Awesome accompiment to the meal.

Now, as I cruse the forums, I'm drinking one of my favorite Tripels, Weyerbacher 'Merry Monks'. This is a fantastic example of the type, however some find it a bit to 'flavorful'...that is, to much fruit-like taste. I used a Weizen Glass with this one (as it was clean and I think it's a great glass for this). Aweomse hazy golden goodness.

It's a bit potent (9.8 IIRC) percent, but a fantastic late evening beer. Much like the Troegs of above, this is brewed 20 minutes south of me, in Easton PA.

What are the rest of the Zilvian's enjoying this evening? I enjoy great craft beers, and would love to know what the rest have in their beer fridges!

Bell's Hopslam is on top of my list. a michigan beer no less. it punches you in the mouth with a hoppy/grapefruit-like taste. the scent is epic on top of it all. the price tag deters people i think. but even at $15-ish for a 6 pack. i still find myself buying it. warning, it is not for your average-joe beer drinker.
the picture on the label is no lie.

it is VERY dry, yet VERY flavorful.

HAHAH No way!

I've got 4 Hop Slams left in the fridge as we speak. I really believe it's best taste in glass, not so much in the bottle. Either way, really tasty!

i tried the life of a beer snob, but i really like to stick to basics. nothing too fancy, nothing too deep. i don't like anything heavy. no porter, no stout, no scottish nonsense.
most of what i drink is either widely available in the midwest/specifically in STL, or it's just a lot cheaper here than it is on the coast. AB is always coming out with new stuff, for instance they just rolled out some new Budweiser "american ale" that i haven't tried yet.

my favorites are probably Michelob Amber Bock and Schlafly Pale Ale. straightforward, easy to find, inexpensive.

in the summer, i drink a lot of Shock Top and Boulevard Zon, but i'll do Blue Moon if there's a special. these are all pretty much interchangeable, but i think Zon is my favorite. one thing Kansas City does right.

fall is great because of pumpkin beer. O'fallon Pumpkin Ale, Schlafly Pumpkin Ale, and Harvest Moon are my favorites.

of course, for home drinking, i like a cheap beer. we have our kegerator fridge ready to go. i'm looking forward to filling it with a half barrel of PBR, MHL, or Busch.

I'm so glad that Shock-Top was posted. That shit is so good! My uncle turned me on to it a few months back. I was amazed at how good it tasted.

I'd really like to try some of that pumpkin beer too. Sounds really good.

But as far as what I drink often would be Heineken and Rolling Rocks. Dos Equis is pretty bomb too...yeah yeah I know I'm pretty boring with the "usual stuff"

So far today I've just had a Coors light (Which I don't care for)

my fridge is stocked with coronas. that's one of the staple on-hand and party beers. it usually shows up at my house for free and lasts a couple days to a week after the party.

when i'm at a bar i enjoy fat tire (draft only...bottles not so much)

the hopyard in pleasanton, ca always has a few micro brews and rarities on hand. i can't even remember all the good beer i've had there.

some of my favorite micro brews are from buffalo bill's brewpub in haward, ca. they have a few year rounds, a few seasonals, and few short runs now and then that are always good. they had one short run for their 20th anniversary called 20 year ale...i think that might have been the best beer i've ever had. i'm so sad they don't make it anymore.

-landshark. tastes like a shit corona.

-busch. see above.

whenever i go out to a normal bar, i get one of the following, in this order:

-new castle. amazing beer on draft. it fails in the bottle.
-guinness. i dont care if its on tap, from a bottle, or a can.
-killians.

I was into Guinness (extra stout) but i started to feel real heavy after drinking a few. Ive also heard that it taste better on tap in Ireland than the stuff we get. Arrogant bastard is a classic, make sure to get their Old Gaurdian in the winter. I'm getting impatient waiting for this Russian River release Stone said they were going to be distributing for them.

I've been to the Hopyard myself but didn't see anything that really caught my eye. The only reasonable in-house they had was a red. I have to check out Buffalo Bill's in Hayward too.

If you're in San Francisco, check out "Strong Beer Month" next February.

Here's the info from earlier this year (2008)- Strong Beer Month (http://www.strongbeermonth.com/Welcome.html)

The 2 local groups provide similar lists -- no need to go to both and 21st Amendment is only a few blocks from SBC Park.

The best place for beer in the city is definitely Toronado in the Haight
Toronado Pub, San Francisco (http://www.toronado.com/)

Even better is Rosamunde next door. Get a few sausages and brews and you're set for the evening... and Magnolia's a few blocks down. Since you're in the area, finish it off with pizza from Little Star and its a good night.

I'm a fan of the heavier beers -- porters/stouts but summer brings out the lighter things. Don't feel like sipping something heavy when its 80 degrees out.

Funny you say that, as Shock Top is actually a Macro in disguise! It's made by Annhuiser Busch. I really don't care for it though...the label is a bit misleading too...I was expecting Orangey orange orange...and didn't get it.

Finally, we have an AA club on Zilvia! ha

I personally prefer dark beers. The BD by my girl's has a nice selection of well known beers as well as micro brewery style beers. Tried some good Polish beer last time, Warka. 7% by volume, $7 for a 6 pack. Good flavor. I've been on a Sam Adams kick lately though. The Honey Porter and Cream Stout are full bodied, full of flavor.

For a light beer, I like Bud Light Lime. Its nice and light with good lime flavor. Great for drinking games because if you drink as much as I do, you never get drunk and can sink that ping pong ball everytime. Drink up fuckers!

i dont see how anyone like hoegarten or blue moon, they taste like sun tan lotion to me. to each thier own i guess. my "daily driver" beer is gonna be some good ol' miller lite. but if im feeling slightly chipper ill step it up to some heineken, or newcastle. if im feeling even more festive- i.e. a celebratory occsasion, ill grab some microbrew, even though im from nc, we have some great microbrews around. red oak, foothills brewery, natty greenes. liberty. these are beers that can be found in grocery stores . not just in the restaruants

So far there are 2 beers that I've had and cant stand... Pacifico being one of them... To me, it has the same aftertaste as when you throw up nothing but liquid...
2nd one is Bud Light... That shit is terrible. We went to see a show at the House of Blues and a friend of mine owed me a drink... So he says, "what do you want?" I say... Get me a Beer. He brings me a Bud Light, I took 2 or 3 drinks and tossed that $5 can of bud light in the trash...

+1, I can relate. Pacifico is the cheapest beer I'll buy and bud light is not even in my beer vocab :) lol
