Hey guys.
I know how to install an exhaust... but I need to know exactly how far up the N1 Dual goes. Exactly where does it connect? Resonator? Midpipe off the cat?
Also... if it doesn't replace the resonator... do I need to keep it? Can I put a 3" pipe there instead? Would it really sound like ass on a KA-T?
Just post answers, thoughts and opinions...

It bolts to the "fake cat". The N1 Dual has a resonator in it.

Ok. If the N1 Dual bolts to the resonator, and has a resonator in it... can I take off the stock resonator and not have my car sound like complete ass?
I am really into getting a 3" (or equivalent) turbo-back exhaust.

Like the guy said, it bolts up to the cat and replaces everything - err - behind it, so the stock resonator will be gone.

Ok. We can't seem to agree upon terminology, so I have spent 5 minutes in Paint creating an exhaust. Can someone tell me EXACTLY where the N1 Dual bolts up?

Thanks!

it bolts up to the cat (for s13s) and the fake cat (for s14s)
It eliminates the stock resonator. The fake cat is not a resonator.. it's just hollow.

once you see the N1 in person it will all make sense to you........there is the fake cat...then the stock resonator...then the muffler......you will understand one you see the N1 in person......good luck with the install....

it bolts to the fake cat the one under your drivers seat. no it wont sound like ass on there but will be really loud with a test pipe there.

so if he went to a high flow cat, would the sound increase be bad or good, (like ass or not)

This is off topic, but how do you know that you have an exhaust leak at the REAL cat. ??

I'm not sure, but i think meineke does free exhaust inpection for leaks. You might try going over there.

just wait until the engine is good and cold....the start it and quickly run and stick you hand all over the exhaust manifold side.....it might take a few days but you will find you leak.....this is how i fixed all of my leaks on my SR

Well.. 3.74" for the GT Spec is huge. And IIRC, when we did calculations for the N1 dual, the total piping diameter came out to 3.2" or so. We did it a long, long time ago, and I can't find the specs of the diameter right now.
I just didn't wanna lose torque. And I am gonna replace that fake cat thing with a test-pipe.
Somehow I forgot about the resonator in my picture... which is dumb, cuz I spent all Sunday under my car installing bushings and sub-frame spacers. LOL!
