I just found out that my grandfather knows how to make fiberglass stuff, he used to do it before he retired. Now, he wants to make them and make some money.
He showed me a pair of fender flares that he made for his friend's son, and the quality looks awesome too.
Can you guys think of anything for him to make? Preferably something small so it's easy to ship.
Anyone got pictures of the Type X wing I can see?

Make anything for hondas:)

I am about to venture into this as well come spring. I am going to do full body kits, but on a limited budget I would say do something small like mirror housings or interior items.

Nope. Copies are already made.

Not unless you can have them made cheap and price them cheaper then the ones already out.

autoimaging.com already makes a copy, price is $400.
and Jspec.com has one for $320.

So before you start, find out if the hassle/effort is going to be worth your/ your Grandfather's gain.

I need a picture, I can most definitely get it for cheaper than that.

have him make s13 silvia fenders... or the s13 to s15 conversion fenders, vented headlight cover for a 180sx, or front lips.. and if you do by chance make either the s13 silvia fenders or the s13 to s15 silvia fenders let me know cuz I want a set..

Thanks

What's the average price on those? And what price do I have to have to sell a lot?

Are you serious, I listed the prices already.

I don't know what price you should sell them, I'm not the one doing the labor, and I’m not sure how much your labor is worth, or at what price you can get the material for.

Guess what, I'm not the ONE making them.

You're true to your name

Anyways, since the lowest price I've seen is $320, aim for lower then this.

Sounds like this was just a silly idea, I really doubt your going to be doing these wings, prove me wrong, not that I would even buy one, just for people could stop talking and start doing.

How about "A pillers" with three guage pods? No one makes them for the s14's that I know of and if they do they are prolly $$$

I thought of that, but I always thought someone makes that already. How much do you guys think it'll go for?

Making a fiberglass copy wouldn't be that bad of an idea. But getting ahold of one would. I would buy the stock "Silvia" reflector grill just to get the dimensions and create something custom/trick.
80% of pictures of S13 Silvia/Sil-eighty from Japan have this grill on'em so it's popular.
Just a thought.

Do you have a picture of that? Does it have a GTR emblem on it?

I think this is what the grill looks like. This one's an East-Bear.

Doesn't anyone out there want to encourage him to do something origional??? If, and that is a big if, you are going to do something as big as fenders or bumpers it would make a lot of sense to check and see if you have a place to store the molds. They take up a lot of space and if you are going to make a lot of parts, they do too.

Do small stuff for starters, it will save you a huge headache later on. Grow with experience. If your grandpa is doing all the work, is he really going to work on this with you for ever? Just something to think about.

I still say go for it and good luck, just be realistic.

Yeah, I tried to bid on those...sadly, lost both times. Got to $130, but was outbid at the last sec of course. This was for the R32 version, and there was another (similar) style being sold by the same seller at the same time. I went for the R32 style...big mistake, as the other grill closed at $60 with no bidding war whatsoever. I'd buy an R32 grill this very minute for under $100.

The silvia conversion we got at the shop came with teh GTr grill and it looks so nice on his car. As for the "A" pillars I bet that people would be willing to pay a decent amount for them. I see the two pod "halfpillars" on ebay but I want a full A pillar with three pods for 60mm gauges. Anyway, good luck

I have been planning this for a while. But I still need some more help here.
How much would vented headlight covers go for?

How much would this wing go for?
http://attila.stevens-tech.edu/~fcheng1/wing.jpg
And these S13 pillars? (these are for RHD, so I just have to make it for LHD)
http://attila.stevens-tech.edu/~fcheng1/pillar.jpg

My grandfather said these would be so easy for him to make.

if i'm not mistaken, do-luck has a headlight vent, and i think it's enjuku racing that sells it for $98 + shipping. the wing is the Erebuni GTR wing, i think it's like 350 or so...
if you were to make a decent GTR wing and sell it for say, 200, i'd be all about it :D

When you say GTR wing, is it R32, 33, or 34? If I take it off from a GTR and just make an exact copy of it, would it fit a s13 and s14?

make some Silvia conversion fenders for the S13 fastback :o , the front bump will bolt on, (i think). sell it for $1000, then i can have a Sil-80 :D

j/k, you should probably do some easier thing first.

damn you are clueless but hey good luck people like you are needed around here because we are poor 240 owners, well not me right now i dont have a 240 but I am getting one. I would have to say 3 Pod pillars maybe hoods(?) like the C West. Also a lot of people want Conv fenders so you can make a good penny off of that b/c GTP is the cheapest crap you can find and crap it is. But I say just follow what these guys say and you can make a pretty penny, but it would be nice to sand, prime and gelcoat them for an extra option :D

when can i find the conv. fenders for s13? (to put in s15 lights)

01-22-2003, 04:59 PM
It'll be sweet if you can make fiberglass copies of rare and expensive JDM aero parts like Kouki 180SX front bumper, side skirts, S13 Silvia Aero bumper, Vented fiberglass hood and some Wide body fenders & quarter panels for PS13/ RPS13 & S14

Here's an example of the wide fenders for S13 Silvia in Jspec

clueless
01-22-2003, 05:10 PM
do you think that's for the front or back?

Carisma•FR
01-22-2003, 05:26 PM
That's for the Front.

Here's another sample of Wide-body panels I found:
http://www.importfan.com/images/products/catalog/240SX_89_94/240sx_89_94_f_texmodify_type_1_rf_01.jpg

clueless
01-22-2003, 05:41 PM
Wow, those cost less than $400USD! Or is 39800 the price for each?
How much would you guys expect these panels to run for in America? Thank you all very much.
