can anyone help me identify what turbo kit did this turbo came from? what are the specs on this (wheel trim, ball bearing? etc.). I was told it's from an rx-7 kit but not sure. anyway here are the specs.

IHI Japan
SPEC: VA490031 9607
SERIAL No. RHX6 05422D

it has an embosed RX6D on the center.
embosed on the exhaust housing near the flange is P18F

try calling Apexi and find out, they will tell you exactly what it is.

Is this the turbo you have?

If so, you have the same turbo I have. Its from the old apexi kit, which came with a cast iron manifold

The P18 is the size of your exhaust housing, 18 is the second smallest, the sizes are
13; 18; 20; 22; 25; 27

Hope that helps.

HP/Boost Depends really, I'm using a 20 exhaust housing on mine, but I haven't finished building the motor, so I don't know what I'll make. From what I understand, depending on your compressor housing, and after talking to power-enterprise, you should be able to hit 400whp with that turbo fairly easily. Its basically a street version of the 80's F1 turbo used by honda. The exhaust flange is akin to a T2 flange, as for A/R, I can't really say, and I won't begin to guess, but these turbos spool fairly quickly. I'm not an expert at reading turbo compressor maps, but it seems like 18~21psi is easy for this turbo as well.

Oh, and if you're wondering why I mentioned power-enterprise, basically IHI and Apexi don't really do business with each other anymore. However, power-enterprise sells IHI turbo's, and the new model (RX6R) shares parts with our turbos. In fact, if my turbo ever dies, I will just get a RX6R compressor & center section and keep on going. I love the cast manifold, and if anyone is wondering, the thing clears everything, even the stock catch can is retainable with this manifold, and it is just as reliable as the stock cast mani.

Thanks geno for the info. Do you know what would it take for it to bolt on to the stock sr mani (since stock is bottom and from your pics the apexi mani is top?

I doubt it would fit, the compressor housings are massive. Assuming it does fit however, all you would need to do is rotate the center section 180 degrees to allow oil to feed & drain properly. You would also have to block your water feed/return lines off as the turbo is only oil cooled.
