At least it's a good size for an SR... A/R 50 on the cold side means it's probably a smaller one. You could run an ebay manifold, and an ebay wastegate, be out the door for like $500, have a DP welded up, and then start a thread on smoking exhaust, weird noises, cracked shit, etc.

genuine garett / precision t3/t4's are fukin cheap and make more power than 2871 . albeit not as fast... but thats what revs are for :)

^ i would say so, however that 50trim looks a little different than my 50 trim (which is garrett purchased from ATP so its 100% legit)

Nioce, the garrett unit is the way to go....The always save turbo maker have just upgrade to putting serial numbers, and A/Rs on their turbos, high tech!

Not to get all CSI up in here but look how the previous owner used those shitty ebay gaskets with the dimples on it. Why would someone but a garret turbo and fit ebay gaskest on it unless its a ebay turbo with ebay gaskets???

Regardless it says "Garret" on it, it seems little sketchy to me.

can any turbo experts confirm this is real?

Well look at it carefully. What are the markings on the CHRA? It has a turbonetics turbine housing, with a garrett compressor housing. What really matters is whats inside. Every garrett turbo i have ever seen has an identification tag on either the center housing or on the back plate of the compressor housing. If it doesn't have either of those then something is wrong. It is actually pretty common for people to swap housings around between manufactures (eg: precision/garrett/turbonetics).

You'll also find some identical turbine wheel/shaft dimensions between manufacturers. especially in the "T3/T4" type turbos. Both turbonetics and garrett have different "stage" turbine wheels with matching trims and blade profiles.

what about the "ZY" on the cartridge?

looks like a ebay turbo with a garrett compressor housing.

the best way to tell if turbos are legit is that most well reputable companies have the exhaust A/R stamped on the inside of the turbo flange. ebay and other knockoffs usually dont take the time to do such, as far as i've seen.

Yep, it looks like it. In addition to the ZY, the alloy of the CHRA looks different from Garretts which will show some surface rust pretty rapidly when used(not a bad thing, and probably stronger than the Chinese junk).

Not the turbine housing seems to have that same weird ChinaCharger "half machined step" going from the turbine exit flange towards the turbine inlet flange.

Looks like someone swaped the compressor housing to sell it for more money...

Told ya already on ka-t....lol....just save up and get something nice. Not only will it work but if the compressor housing is polished, you'll get lots of ooo's and ahh's. Trust me.

Tell him to take a pic of the Garrett tag on the CHRA - they all have them from what I've seen.

You should post on his thread to request him to take a picture of it. I dont like scammers who scam innocent people. Actually ill do it.
