s15 question

I am a newb. to the 240 scene, and i was wondering how much it would cost roughly to buy an s15 engine and have it installed. Also, where would be the best places to get them, other than go to Japan:p . And is the 6 speed in the s15 better than the 5 speeds in the others? Any info would be appreciated, thanx.

Generally speaking...engine + labor will be ~6-8k. srswap.com, unstablehybrids, etc. The strength of the s15 tranny is debateable. Most drifters in japan replace the 6sp with a s13 or s14 tranny, but they are really hard on their transmissions. People in the US who drive hard, but dont try to break their trannies have no problems with the 6sp.

The gears of the 6 speed are really unnecessarily close for an SR with a stock turbo.

There's really no reason to use S15 stuff. Just get an S13 or S14 engine, the money you save on the engine itself and the install (which is vastly more complicated) could go towards making your car actually faster.
