I'm running a GT3076R at only 10psi with a 4" intake pipe and the turbo spooling noise is way quieter than my S14 T28 at the same psi. I checked for shaft play and such and everything is normal.

Is this normal?

So do you feel more power then your old turbo? If so then why do you want a loud spooling sound? Shaft play would make your turbo noisy, It doesn't make your turbo quiet.

Yes more power, than before. Just wanted to know if there was anything wrong with this brand new turbo.

I heard ball bearing turbos have a unique spool up sound, and I can barely hear anything on this one. Just scared the bearings were damaged or something.

If the Bearings were damaged You Would Know it.

Its just the sound of air being sucked in through a small housing

think of it like this, Pucker your lips and breath in real quickly (T28)

now open your mouth wide and breath in quickly again (GT3076R)

That turbo breathes better than the T-28

Ummm my gt3076r is fucking loud! It sounds like jet aircrafts son! What compressor housing you running? I got the anti surge housing.

You want it to be noisy, take the pipe off and just put a mesh to cover it (if you can...assuming youre still running a MAF).

t28 is quick spooling turbo but at 10 psi on a gt30 I don't really think the turbo is getting put to use. Turn the boost up to 15psi and listen to that bitch scream

Injectors are the limiting factor on her setup at the moment.
