So I've done some research on Ka-t.org and I have come to the conclusion that a safe bore for a ka24de engine going for about 275-300hp (of course boosted) would be about .20 over. Does this sound about right?

What do you mean by "safe bore?"

Like the walls aren't to thin and they wont crack.

You do know you will not have to bore out to reach the suggested power goals right?
depending on what tq your seeking and where you want the hp and tq to come into play, and where you want it to max out in the rpms may determine whether it would be worth it to open up the cylinder.(along with turbo, Ic, etc..) A .020 bore is considered safe by alot of people.

Thank you thats all i needed to know. I was just planning to bore it out because I'm not sure if the cylinders is scored or not, so I was just gonna plan to bore it out either way.

they could just clean the cylinders up at the machine shop. Boring to .020 cost me a extra 175 at machine shop. If your cylinders dont need it, and you dont need more displacement, you could use that on a nice fuel rail, or arp studs or something.

Yea, they could. Nothing has gone through yet so I can still decide before I order the parts.

I didn't wanna make a new thread for this question cause I didn't wanna take up more space. I looked around in the forums for a place that sells rebuild kits or at least all the parts for a rebuild because I would like to buy everything from the same place. The only reliable places that some people suggested are not in buisness anymore besides rpmmachine.com. I also was looking at phase2performance but they do not sell all the parts I need. What do you guys suggest?

you bore for compression and since you wanna boost the ka you wanna go from the 10:1 compression to 8:1 at least...anyways AMS sells rebuild kits for the ka pricey but pretty complete... heres a link to their kits

do you know if the pistons in this kit (http://www.amsperformance.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=24_62_304&products_id=303) are forged?

Edit: and the rods?
