Ka24e
1990 fastback
has around 59,XXX miles (original)
completely stock motor

My car (http://zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=203101#) rattles when i start it up, must be that infamous timing guide that is being chewed up, it only rattles for less than a second!

so my car myseriously dies at a meet.
I was there for about a good 1 or 2 when i go
to start up my car, it wont start, low battery
so i jump the car start right up, i let it run for a
while to recharge my batteries then turned it off.
When it was time to leave the car started, but as
soon as i turned on my headlight the car just dies!
So i had to jump it agian, only this time the car will
die, unless you keep adding gas so the idle won't drop
to zero. Finally i got the car home, and it dies.
so i went to get a new battery starts right up.
a month later the same thing happens
as soon as the car is jumped and the cables are taken
out the car starts to die after a minute or two.

i do not know the problem

alternator?

i need some help

yeah probably an alternator since it would explain why a brand new battery is drained.

Definitely alternator or related to it.
Change it out, observe what happens, come back when youre done.

Check to make sure the alternator is hooked up right first. Dont want you buying one when it was just a loose ground or something. Other than that, yes it is probably your alternator.

check all connectionss and pull out your ALT then bring to a kragen or autozone to get it tested before buying one.

Check that the ground on the block and to the alternator is tight and secure. A loose ground will kill your alternator and give you freaky electrical trouble. Another funny thing that I learned. is make sure that your battery terminals are making contact with the cable. Inbetween the clamp some battery terminals have paint and it insulates. Make sure all wires that need power are making good metal to metal Contact. Alternators can be rebuilt and it comes out cheaper sometimes.

I live free and happy at all times.
I live the life I want to, NOT the life I think I have too, the Life the govt makes you think you need to live...

I LIVE FULL. Hard.
I can die today. and have had a full life.
I often think of people who work 9-5 and eat sleep doing it again... NEVER THAT FOR ME!
I would rather die.

he's got the right idea...kragen saved me the $180 the starter on my acura was going to cost..if it'd actually needed to be replaced..
