Ok, my previous S13 was an auto that I converted to 5 speed.
anyways I did not swap the auto ecu out to 5 speed ecu. due to the fact that it was OBDI, it did not matter. it did not throw a code to  turn on the check engine light.
Now here comes the fun stuff. The auto ecu has a higher rev limit. I was able to spin my engine up to 7100 rpm (I had a lightened flywheel with intake and exhaust).
I also discovered that it did not seem to have a top speed limiter. I actually ran the car at 125 mph and it could have gone farther. I did not want to push it any faster on the 5 freeway.
so where is Dave going with this? Well if you want a higher rev limit and you want a higher top speed than the 115 mph cutoff that the 5 speed ecu has go out and get a Auto ECU and plug it in &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>
Have fun

P.S. S14 owners do not try this . Your ecu will throw a code and your check engine light will come on.

That was a twin cam correct?

Will it work on the singles?

i don't know about the ECU part but on my S13 i was able to go past 115 without any problem. due the fact that there are cars infront of me like 200 feet away i didn't want to push it anymore but if i ever have another chance i will try that again.
o btw my car is a 92 stick.

ya rancid it was a twin cam car.
You would have to check it out on your single cam.

S13 driver, what you say is interesting. The factory speed limiter is set to 115 mph I know I bounced off it on my new 5 speed 92 SE. do you have different size tires on your car? that would throw your speedo off making you think you were going 115mph possibly.
my 92 SE is bone stock at the moment with factory tires and wheels.

maybe you are right about the actual speed on my car. since when i pass a speed trap it shows 60 on it while my speedo shows 65, which i don't know why. also my tire size is 205/60R15 on stock wheel.

ya i have see the speedo do that with bigger tires on a car so that might be the prob.

but in anycase u might want to see if it is good for the car to have the auto emu with the 5spd might be werth looking in to.

well, I ran it on my 91 for 17 thousand miles, before the car got killed, by a hit and run driver with no problems.

i don't think it would work. i've heard something like the DOHC ECU's are 16-bit while the SOHC ECU's are 8-bit. something confusing like that. BUT.. if anyone wants to give it a try, tell us how it goes! i'd like to remove the limiters on my SOHC.
