What is the tallest rear end gear anyone has heard of fit into the 240SX R200 differential?

Lowest I know for sure is the 3.54 from the Q45. I want to go lower (numerical), but do not know for sure what ring and pinion fits.

Some people have told me that the 3.36 from the automatic 350Z doesn't fit because the pinion length is different on the 350Z's R200 differential.

Thanks

The 350Z uses 3.357 R200(V) like you mentioned, I believe the number of pinions have no bearing on the ring and pinion set itself just as long as its R200 or R200V.

With that I believe only the M/T base model's comes with the R200 2 pinion 3.538, and the non base M/T uses 3.538 R200V while the A/T uses 3.357 R200V.

Also 2003 Q45 also uses a 2 pinion R200 with a 3.133 final drive.

I think what they mean by 2 pinion is actually the number of side gears.

Bump this with some useful info for you guys.

I was able to get an R200 47/15 ring and pinion installed into my S13. Here's what you should know:

Supposedly, this 3.133 ratio came from Pathfinders : Nissan Motor Company Final Drive Gear Ratio's (http://www.vibratesoftware.com/html_help/html/Nissan/nissan_drive_axles.htm)

It is supposed to be the tallest/numerically lowest ring and pinion you could get from the factory in any Nissan.

I don't actually know where mine came from because I got mine from ebay. The seller was retarded and didn't know anything about it.

The ring uses 13mm bolts so if you have 12mm diff you will have to redrill the diff to 13mm.

Caution though. The ring and pinion is too big for a standard S13/S14 case. If you installed the ring and pinion into a stock S13 or S14 diff, the pinion is too big and rubs on the snout of the case. You won't be able to set backlash.

I had 2 S13 diffs, 1 S14 diff, and 1 J30 diff next to this mystery diff for comparison and the mystery diff has a bigger snout.

I think it came from a Pathfinder with 5 bolt axles and VLSD.

So if you want this swap you have to get the whole case.

The shop I used was able to mix and match the 3.133 ring and pinion, "Pathfinder" case, S13 open diff Tomei 2-way redrilled to 13mm, and stock S13 6 bolt axles.

The result from 4.083 is amazing. Car drives excellent and can put power down instead of spinning with the stock R&P.

Definitely recommended for high torque, low revving cars.
