right now i have an auto tranny, but i am having alot of trouble with it, after i took it to a friends friend so he could fix it.  well it feels the same and he told me to take it back, but the first time he took forever and almost cost me my job.  Im thinking about just switching it to a Manual....is it hard and , is it worth it? i would get the manual out of a junk yard

Manual is so much better. I got my 240 as a stick shift and I am not regretting it. Having had an auto sentra the difference was like night and day. I would say look at what the cost will be and if you can afford it go with a swap to a five speed.

i think it's worth it if your car is old and you haven't done much to it. if it's new, i'd just sell it and buy a 240sx that has a manual transmission.

I definately prefer a manual. &nbsp;I actually passed up a couple of nice auto s14s and waited over a month to find my manual s14. &nbsp;I don't regret it at all.

Also, I've heard someone say they switched from auto to manual for about $600-$800 dollars (not sure exactly how much they said). &nbsp; It is worth it to have a manual in my opinion, but it depends on your car's condition, and how much money you're willing to put into your car.

that might have been me . I bought a Ultra low mileage 91 S13 hatch ,19,144 miles . I had been looking for a 5 speed low mileage SE all over cali for 2 months. I finally got fed up.
I had actually found this car already(its a salvage title but it was hit in the left fender, core support ,and bumper. i.e. not a real total) It was rebuilt perfectly . I bought it from a bodyman. &nbsp;Well it was an Automatic. So yes I am doing the swap and its only costing $800 with parts and labor.
My friend also did the swap with his SR20DET powered Zenki. good low mileage 5 speeds are hard to find in SoCal. I will post pics soon.

I want to do a swap, where are you getting the swap done for $800?

I have a shop here in Los Angeles that will do it for $400 labor . I can get the parts for like $400-500. If you do some of the pedal work your self the install price will drop some because this guy only charges as long as it takes. I.E. he will quote you book rate beat it and charge you less <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
