Hey guys,

I've had my car for a year now and the sr's been sittin for the past 8 or so months. I got it to start and all but still have a few kinks to work out
(The car starts only after excessive pumping of ze pedal.)
Basically it over heats after about 20 minutes or so
Its idling high and adjusting the throttle cable doesn't seem to do a thing( I loosened it all the way to get it at 750 or so rpm)
I haven't connected the vacuum lines yet (3 lines connected. 1 to FPR 1 to BOV and 1 plugged)
Theres alot of half hoses everywhere which I have no idea as to where they go
While under the car I noticed that there were 2 electrical plugs hanging from the chassis and I couldn't find anywhere to plug them into the tranny.
The whole car also starts to shake when it goes under 1k!
Theres also alot of electrical plugs that are dangling around and I don't know where they go! (I looked for male ends but it nothing seemed to correspond)
My brother used to help me with this project (he did most of the work while I did stuff like pump the pedal or hand him tools)
Last month he got hurt during snowboarding and required immediate spinal operation. They put 2 metal plates on his spine but hes still resting so the only thing I could do is call him and see if he could diagnose the problem over the phone.
If anyone around the brooklyn area could take a look at the car that'd be great! Its about 8mins from CB toys r us.
The car is a 1990 SOHC 240sx standard
Engine Bay :(

Well, to me it looks like you are going to need quite a bit of help with this. Right off the bat, I can tell you that black lookin can-like thing, is called the charcoal canister, and the bottom connects to that hose on the drivers side near the headlight. There should be a circle mount to hold it in place. Then there will be two more hoses that connect to the top of the canister (as you can see there are 2 empty slots for hoses).

Hope this helps :)

Holy Crap dude this thing is a rats nest
if you get fed up send you wire harness to Yuri and for 120 bucks he can wire your shit up so it drops in, plugs in, and fires up www.srownersclub.com (http://www.srownersclub.com/)
its "Wiring Specialty" under the "tune up install section"

Anyway

Hey guys,
Its idling high and adjusting the throttle cable doesn't seem to do a thing( I loosened it all the way to get it at 750 or so rpm)

Thats about normal

I haven't connected the vacuum lines yet (3 lines connected. 1 to FPR 1 to BOV and 1 plugged)
Theres alot of half hoses everywhere which I have no idea as to where they go

Plug all your vac lines and cap off any ports not used or it will run like crap

Theres also alot of electrical plugs that are dangling around and I don't know where they go!

Some of them are not used especially 2 plugs by the ignitor chip those are for the EGR, and Stock Boost controller

Last month he got hurt during snowboarding and required immediate spinal operation. They put 2 metal plates on his spine but hes still resting so the only thing

Im sorry to hear about your bro I hope everything goes well and that he makes a full recovery

Loose tubes Cant see but i think your refering to the waste gate
CONNECT THE WASTE GATE TO A VACUM SORCE OR YOU WILL BLOW YOUR
TURBO/ENGINE
Connect this to your Throttle body vac sorce and research how a boost contoller, and waste gate work

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/Picture050.jpg
no clue not enough info
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/Picture051.jpg
Charcol canister Dont worry about it
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/Picture054.jpg
Top right tube next to vac line :(

IACV Idle air contol Vave MUST be connected to the Inntercooler pipeing for your engone to run normal at idle that why your engine shakes over 1K and runs like crap

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/Picture077.jpg

Should be connected like the one in this pic
right in front of the throttle body to the intercooler pipe

The picture under the wastegate where the line tee's off is actually the line thats running out of the waste gate as you see in the middle of the picture. From what I can tell from the Vacuum line connection diagram on Nico; its suppose to plug into another big hose which I cannot find anywhere (and about 70%) of the stuff there as well.

Those are diagnostic ports. They used them to test your ignition and other random systems. I usually deloom my harnesses and remove it but it can be left.

If you have the money i would pull the harness and send it to wireing service. They will make it look really good and label where all the connecters go.

Thanks for the help soo far guys!!!
SO heres an Update;

Basically after more dianostic, a friend of mines refered me to the ecu to dash wire splice and it turns out that my brother spliced orange/blk stripe from ECU to Orange wire in dash. After splicing it back, the engine started much more easier.

However, when I turn the key the engine cranks extremely slow. Almost as if something was holding it back and preventing it from cranking. But after 2 or 3 cranks the engire fires right up and hovers around 850 - 900 but sometimes dies out unless I give it some gas. Another thing is when I give it some gas during cranking the engire fires instantly and jumps straight to 3k and hovers around 2.8 - 3.

All vac lines are already plugged in and the battery is new from autozone. We even had the battery jumped to see if it changed anything with no luck.

Both grounds on the engine are grounded. 1 being in the rear and 1 on pass side by strut tower.

I would like to thank everyone for pointing me in the right direction
So I spent the whole day cutting up the tray and some other places to run the IC pipe and to plug all the vac lines. Vac lines were plugged following this chart:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/Vaclines.jpg
Basically all lines are routed except one from the EAI control solenoid to the EAI Control valve since I don't have one so that line is plugged.
So basically, my car starts right up now but instead of the smooth vrooom that I'm so used to hearing its now "put put put put put put puttt puttt vrooom" and it idles around 650. It sounds like my brothers half assed subie
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/th_Picture024.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/?action=view&current=Picture024.flv)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/th_Picture025.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/?action=view&current=Picture025.flv)
Please note that I kept the pedal depressed at all times without letting go and I noticed that it hesitates around 3k then drops to 2.5k and then again at 4. This didn't happen before I plugged in all the "right" lines :(
I also found this weird looking plug thingie that looked like a mini fuse box of some sort behind the engine. Running from that little box is a plug that connects to itself (wtf?)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/Picture043.jpg
Engine has stopped overheating and stays cool around well under half mark.
Just wanted to confirm that what I plugged into was indeed the following:
EAI Control Solenoid
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/Picture021-2.jpg
Boost Pressure Solenoid
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/Picture019-2.jpg
These parts were all attached to my starter when my swap came. Right now I have all the lines at the vac lines running back to the passenger side.
I also wanted to know if theres a way to tell if I have DOHC or SOHC lines. The lines inside the car are supposingly DOHC but I'm not sure anymore seeing how the reservior that came with it lined up on the passenger tower and looked the same as my old SOHC one. I dont have the SOHC lines to compare anymore but is there a way I could tell?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/Picture023-1.jpg
There is also a plug running from the high pressure line here. It looks exactly the same as the Boost Pressure Solenoid plug But theres a line that I previously noted but I'm not sure if its suppose to plug?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/itzta1/Car/Picture049.jpg
Also, does anyone know if its possible to swap heads with the SR ac hardline and the SOHC ac hardline? (I want to keep the SR pump and just swap the head of the hardline so that I can bolt the sr hardline up instead of having to swap to a KA pump and then custom mounting it in.)
Thanks for all the help! :D
