View Full Version : Best "low" rails for S13?

Def

Searched around and all I found is that it's common for most rails on sidemount seats to put the seat off center from the wheel.

Is there any general consensus on the rails that can go the lowest, are most centered, and don't flex on one side(single sided slider lock)?

Also any feasible mods to do to brackets to get them centered?

general consensus says bride FG are the best.

i have a buddy club super low down race spec rail and i dont really see how the bride one can be any better, its low, its sturdy, i have no complaints whatsoever, i think if it were any lower i think you might have trouble bolting a seat in there lol.

oh yea, and they are very centered.

Yea, I saw that pic in my search. Maybe I'm just dense, but without the rails in front of me I can't tell what you modified.

What's the thought on NAMS rails? Not as good?

For tall people, FG is better cause it's lower. I had both. I got mad after buying the buddy club rails, cause they weren't super low down. I was at near stock seat height in my bucket. Went to Aspec, like right after buying these rails, bought an FG rail and gained so much headroom. The difference between both are the seat mounts on the rails. Bride is simply L shaped.

I have Corbeau brackets modded to sit lower.

Yeah

Bride FG

If it aint broke don't fix it

They work well for S13/14 in all categories (low down, dual locking, etc)

The offset center thing is not a big deal

Bride addresses it http://www.tees-usa.com/seatrail_LowMax.html

They say it offsets 15mm towards the door side

I never really noticed it myself until someone mentioned it

I don't have any personal experience but I hear alot of people talk about Nagisa Auto super low rails aren't those good?

I have Corbeau brackets modded to sit lower.

Nagisa made two versions of rails:

Version 1 - single side locking, advantage is their slider adjustment and slider style was "OEM" so it slides more smoothly than other aftermarket sliders

Version 2 - dual side locking, these are very similar to Bride FG in terms of construction and slider style

Only downside is that Nagisa Ver II's are slightly more expensive than Bride FG's

Which is why I just say get Bride FG

Another thing is STOCK

If you find a Bride FG in stock, or you know you need a seat rail, get it AHEAD OF TIME

FG is always hard to stay in stock and hard to get, so the legit dealers that stock it get it through them

I have the NAMS super low and theyre ok. There is a offset from the center of the seat vs. steering wheel. I'll try to get pics up tommorow.

my buddy club looks like your bride FG drawing, my brackets look nothing like your BC drawing...

my seat sits JUST above the floor, i barely have enough room for the slider lever...

Did you buy the BC rails new? Has to be custom brackets, cause all the BC rails I've seen online have the same brackets as mine. Unless, they made new versions.

I bought both from Logan. I prefer the FG more than the Nagisa. The Bride is much lower and moves more smoothly.

I've got the Nagisa V1, single lock. It's the first racing seat/rail I've ever had in a car, but it works fine for me. It seems very centered in regards to the steering wheel.

I've got the Nagisa V1, single lock. It works fine for me, but then again this is my first racing seat. In regards to it being centered with the steering wheel, it's fine. I don't think it's off at all. Also it has the L mounting brackets, and the seat sits pretty low.

All and all, no complaints.

I prefer Bride.

I got rid of my Bride to get a Nagisa, then I went back to Bride and sold my Nagisa.

bought my rail brand new from JHP usa in february, Buddy Club Super Low Down Race Spec Seat Rail, my brackets are L shaped, just like the bride. mine look nothing like the ones in the picture you posted. i can take pics when i pick my car up tomorrow if you wish. my seat isnt even on the lowest setting in front, and its still almost touching the floor, i dont know how you can get any lower than that. and its perfectly centered to the wheel.

I love my Bride FG's.

It actually sat the seat low enough for me to clear with a helmet, which i thought was amazing, because i've always had a hard time getting room to clear with all the brackets i've tried.

What's the thought on NAMS rails? Not as good?

those plates that have the ubber thick welds on them were added in on both sides of the seat. This shoved the seat more over to the center, and dead on with the steering wheel. Its easier on a bottom mount seat, but with a little thinking, can be done on a side mount as well.

If it's side mount then bride fg will work fine.

I have a set of Wisteria rails.
On the lowest setting you have to take out the carpet, or else the seat can't move.
Good luck finding them if you don't live in Japan though...

Ok... So I bought some super pimp Bride FG rails because I didn't feel like fabbing up stuff... and they simply don't work with the seat I have.

Has anybody gotten these things to work with a Recaro Pole Position? It seems it was designed for a narrower "JDM" type seat without any side padding like the one I have for my passenger side. The Recaro is about 0.75" wider, and it doesn't seem possible to get these rails to work with it. I've grinded on the brackets and gained about 1/4", but it's still not looking like it'll fit. I can raise the seat all the way up and possibly get them to bolt up to the car, but at that point... I don't know why I'd bother.

And can someone explain why they leave OVER an inch of space between the innermost rail and the trans tunnel once bolted up? It seems almost too stupid easy to move the slider over almost an inch towards the trans tunnel when making these rails.

I'll post some pics after I get some food. It's probably 100 degrees in my garage today and the Miller Lite isn't making it feel any cooler... bleh

I'm wondering if the Nagisa D-Lock rails will work for you, Def.

I just bought some, and it looks like they might work with wider seats, and also let you move them over, since the mounting brackets have a pretty wide slot on them... not sure if the FG also has wide slots, though (didn't look like it from the pics I've seen). You could probably invert them, too, so you might have some options if you can get creative.

I'm glad I can fit in an SPG. :p

Here's what I'm talking about:

I have a 30" waist, so I can fit into any of the smaller seats as well, I just got a ridiculously good deal on this Pole Position from my friend. It's not big of a seat, the padding still touches my hips, but it can fit someone with a 34" waist since it does have some padding.

It seems like it's a bit wider than the average non-FIA cert. seat, which I'm guessing is what these rails are designed around(i.e. Bride's overpriced non-cert seats).

Just mounted my fx1 pro w/ BC rails. yea bc sucks.. i sit higher on the lowest setting than my bottom mount bride knock offs with bride rails. not sure if bc rails are made only for bc seats but i barely have any headroom and im 5' 11". there's a lot of room under the seat to go lower too. looks like i need to make some L brackets to make it work right....

Yea, I mounted my no-name seat I got from a Japanese junkyard importer(actually fits me better than the PP, go figure) on the FG rails and it's pretty low. I'm 6'3" and now have about 6" of headroom at the lowest setting. Kind of weird driving the car now being so low, but it feels better.

The PP required me cutting and welding the brackets on my Recaro passenger rail(which was too narrow for my Recaro Pole Position strange enough) and bending the brackets a bit. At the lowest position I could get the seat in - the highest on the rails(they have a rail going between the sliders) the headroom is about the same as a stock seat with the seat cushion in, and you get about 2" more room taking the cushion out(thick compared to lots of seats).

I would just keep your stock S14 seats

Anyhow, if its a bucket seat then yes you can use a FG rail

If its a bottom mount reclinable then negative

I didn't want to make a new topic because this one was already up so...

Would the Bride FG rail work with the Wide Buddy Club bucket seat ? From what I've read, it leads me to say no because the FG doesn't work with the Recaro Pole Position which is just a tad wider than say a Zeta III.

Better late than never I suppose.

This is an excellent post. The depiction of the Bride FG is very accurate.

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/7564/75046869.jpg

This is for comparison with a universal bottom mount rail available from Summit Racing. The seat is a Kirkey roadrace intermediate 15":

http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/9562/23680005.jpg

Assuming the seat is not too wide, the FG bracket does have some adjustments to accomodate various size seats. If your seat is too wide, you will have to fabricate your own mounting brackets to mount the seat to the rail.

Up close of one side of the rail for educational purposes. As you can see, the rail is sidemount. So the seat can go as low as possible until the seat hits the floor. There is nothing that goes under the seat from the rail. The rail is perfectly flat from where it mounts to the seat.

http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/1252/43098902.jpg

I offset the pix a little for perspective. As you can see, there is nothing sticking pass where the brackets mount to the seat. This means that the seat can go as low as you want until you hit the floorboard.
