I'm a little confused. I have a '92 240sx SE. After dropping 5th gear on the freeway I started searching for a tranny. Since I have almost 190K miles on mine and 5th gear grenaded and cracked the bell housing, a rebuild is out of the question. Now, what I'm wondering is, what fits? I've heard that you can swap an s14 tranny into an s13. I've heard that the tranny in an s13 is .5-1 inch shorter than an s14. Since I have HICAS and a VLSD will driveshaft length become an issue? If anyone actually KNOWS the answer to these questions, your input would be appreciated. Also, if you know where I can actually GET a tranny (I'm in san diego) that'd be sick.  Remember, Speed kills. Drive a Honda and live forever!

Check the for sale section of Zilvia, the 240sx.org classifieds, the for sale section of freshalloy.com, and of course, the junkyards. Don't pay more than $250 for a tranny.

The S13 and S14 transmissions should be identical.  If you find something different (sensor, dust cover, etc), swap it out for the piece from your old trans.

US S13 and S14 are close but NOT the same, S14 had a crank fire sensor and S13 /Does not have it or the hole.. JDM trans will not bolt to KA.....

I found one with pretty low miles. Under 250, but I have to have it shipped, if anyone knows a decent, inexpensive shipper, let me know. I have a hook up with Yellow freight, but they could still be a little pricey. Appreciate the help, and the Rynomobile thanks you too.

R&L Carriers if Yellow Freight doesn't work for you.  I have heard of trannys getting shipped for about $80 from R&L.
