so this is my first post here... anyway...
i have a 92 PS13 with a blown KA24DE. i have the oppurtunity to purchase a 95 KA24DE for REALLY cheap. my question is this:
what are the differences between a 92 KA and a 95 KA? if any?
i thought i remembered a compression ratio difference? not sure so fill me in on anything you people can think of. my mind has been on nothing but the ae86 i just bought and i need to get my 240 back on the road!!!!!!!
thanks

Engines from my understanding go like this:

89-90 ka24e.  SOHC
91 Ka24DE: Dohc  Supposedly the quickest year for the ka24de Because it used a Different set of cams than the rest.

92-98 there were the same engine.

I'm pretty sure this is how it goes but if not somebody will correct me I'm sure.

The compression ratio is the same for all DOHC. 91 was the year with the 'hot' cams. Every year after that they got 'retuned' slightly for more midrange and torque, along with the ecu.

If you just want the 95 KA into your s13 the easiest (easiest as in not having to worry about rewiring or plugging up a sensor) is just swap the s13 intake and exhaust manifolds onto the s14 KA. I have done this and it works just fine.

QUADRUPLE POST!?!? &nbsp;(You're lucky I'm in a good mood!<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Absolutly no difference. &nbsp; No OBD-II crap, no piston difference, nothing. &nbsp;Have fun swapping!

hey guys thanks a lot for the help. looks like i'll go ahead and grab this 95 KA. so the 91 cams are peppier than the 92? i have an intake cam from a 94 altima. i heard they have a bit more duration. or is it the same as the 91 240 cam? hmmm. oh and im using my old head and stuff. i just needed a new short block. i'm pretty sure i stuffed a rod though the side of my block. anyone had success with a thin metal head gasket on an NA KA motor? i would kinda like to bump up the compression a bit while im in there. maybe clean up the ports a bit too. thanks a bunch for all your help and keep em comming if i should know about anything else! thanks!
