I finally got around to doing a compression test on my 240. I did the test after I got home from work so that way the car would be warm. My Ka24de has around 209,xxx miles on it. I was kinda surprised at my test results. So I was wondering if my results are typical for an engine with the amount of miles that mine has. Here are the results (I did 4 checks per cylinder):

Cylinder 1: 180, 190, 195, 200
Cylinder 2: 190, 195, 195, 195
Cylinder 3: 187, 187, 190, 190
Cylinder 4: 180, 180, 185, 182

those are really good results.

did you warm up your engine, and etc?

i have around the same miles as you and i put up around 175 psi across the cylinders.

Higher mileage motors, in good condition (i.e., no worn rings) will show higher-than-average numbers due to carbon build-up.

If your motor seems to be in good condition, and doesn't smoke (no oil leaking past rings)...then I would expect close to 200psi per cylnder.

Your's looks exactly....average.

Yea I followed the directions in the FSM. I unplugged my distributor, pulled the fuel pump fuse, pulled all the plugs, held the throttle wide open, and of course the motor was warm before I did the test. So I feel fairly confident that my test results are accurate! The only problems I have with the motor is a noisy timing chain and a few small oil leakes. What do you guys recommend for the removal of carbon buildup? Seafoam maybe? I am planning to turbo my motor so that is why I did this compression test. I am looking to do a t25 setup and run it at 7psi. What do you guys think?
