intercooling idea

so, i've heard of water-charged air intercoolers.  They are said to be really efficient,  so why not try a refrigerant-charged intercooler.

use existant AC compressor (R-134A conversion)
a little copper tubing
some aluminum sheeting
and a whole lot of hours

possible?
