Yea I was just under my car and i guess im really low, because there is about a 4-5 in. portion of the frame rail on my passenger side is smashed up flush to the chassis. has anyone ever cut a section out of this and put another in from a junk yard car or something? Those frame rails are really flimsy, and i think every jack point on my car doesnt support it at all, what should i do so i dont punch holes in the bottom of my damn car,
thanks guys.

Perhaps your car has been secretly driving itself on HTM, which makes perfect sense why your frame rail is smashed up.

You should see mind.

Can anything really bad come from having crushed frame rails? I know that they have replacement rails for the 280z at http://www.baddogparts.com/, but I don't know if there are any for the s13.

The rails are weak, so no, nothing bad will come of it, mine are bent from previous owner.

Ya, from what I can recall, they're not very important. They're not very strong.

why dont u get some good U channel and weld that shit in and call it a day.. that should stiffen the shit out of ur chassis.

think about all the flex in ur chassis and now u just welded a big ass peice of metal in there to support it.. if u put a cross bar across the bottom u could stiffen it up even more.. but yea it may get expensive.

I am using C channel steel to repair my rusted frame rails..... Cut the rusted ones out with a sawzaw and weld the new ones in. No sense in junking a perfectly good chassis!! Works perfectly!!!!!!

VERY TRUE!
it for side exit exhausts...lol...

as for jacking car..I use diff in rear and I also use rad support in front, I usually weld in a piece of steel in front rad support for more support.

Good info, +1 on the Greatstuff in the frame rails. Im only concerned about rust. If someone had a diagram on all of the chassis frame drain locations, they should post it up. Sealing off any part of the frame from air and moisture is a good thing, as long as air and moisture cant get in.

Try taking a plastic bottle, fill it with that greatstuff. Try smashing it- alot harder.

Their is a build thread on here from a guy in hawii who bought new frame rails from nissan for like $60 and welded them in

We used C channel to stiffen the rails on one car. You can get it just oversized from the stock rails to slide on. Cut it in 8" to 10" sections and get to welding. Be sure to remove any carpet/seats/etc from inside or they will get hella burnt. It also helps to have a spray bottle and open the small holes under the seat and just behind it to spray water down there in case of a fire. I had to do that a couple of times.

You can do that or use Marine foam in the rails instead of great stuff. There is a thread on FA detailing the use of some other type of industrial foam. That looked good too.

My driver's rail is flattened like a mutha...it's mostly due to idiots jacking these cars thinking they are real frame rails.

I was at a fix a flat place and the drone almost did this to my passenger side. I don't think he would have believed me if I didn't show him my driver's side.
