i just finished my auto to manual swap tonight at like 9 o clock and everything seemed to be fine for awhile i was driving it around and i noticed i had it in 3rd and i let off the gas to let it just slow down and let the engine do a little braking and i noticed a kind of grinding sound, it didnt sound good at all. 3rd also seemed a liiiiiitle boggy for some reason? but besides that everything seems to be going just fine. anyone know what this might be?

might need new tranny fluid for the grinding

ACT 6 Puck unsprung

i think that might be why..im guessing you went from a auto ka to manual ka? if thats the case im pretty sure you dont need a 6 puck, even if you had a stock sr you wouldnt need a 6 puck unless your gonna eventually go lots of power

i know it might have been dumb to get a 6 puck but i really like it... and it shouldnt be grinding either way...

it's more than likely the fact that you have an overly aggressive clutch when you don't need one for your application.

did you dremel out the automatic transmission adapter bearing? the people who did my swap didn't and it made a weird kind of grinding noise that was similar to the one you're describing.

yup took that sucker out! hahah after breaking llike 3 puller tools! and honestly i dnt think it should matter if the clutch is really aggressive, that shouldnt make a grinding noise in your tranny. and honestly i dnt think its that harsh either its fairly easy to drive... i was reading other threads and everyone was saying they are crazy harsh and what not, i got kinda scared for a moment but when i drove it it doesnt seem bad at all and im very happy with the clutch. although im still breaking it in :( idk what its capable of lol anyone else know why this could be?

the auto tranny adapter would have been my guess. Try posting up a video if you could so we could get a better idea.

just to clarify, is it while in neutral or when in gear?

torue the bolts to spec...may sound stupid...but with 240's its usually the most stupidest thing that makes shit worst :(

yup i torqued them to spec. ok heres another idea.. my friend said thats kinda normal wit an unsprung clutch. its more like the clutch disk vibrating a little when i let my foot off the gas while in 3rd gear or 4th gear. he said his cousins stock s2k does this too and a few others he knew with unsprung clutches

Your friend has the right idea. What you are hearing are called torsional vibrations in the transmission. These vibrations are always happening but are not noticed because the springs in the disc dampen this. Springs are not for smoother engagement like most people think, but instead to dampen this sound. Because you have an unsprung disc these noises are heard because there are no springs to dampen the sound. Nothing is wrong.
