Hex Key Broke in Lug Nut

So like the title reads, the hex key for my wheels broke off inside of the lug nut. What are my options of taking it out. I remember torching one out a few years ago when the same thing happend. Could I just drill it out? The wheels are crap, but I'd rather have minimal damage to it.

same thing happened to me. i ended up drilling it out and than snapping the stud

if you have enough room in the wheels there are these lock nut removes you can buy and than you just need a breaker bar and bam its out

Had this happen with a crappy OEM Nissan lug key, the kind that just have the shape on the surface of the lug.

Had to take it to a tire place where they pounded some socket with teeth inside on to get it off.....they broke 3 sockets trying to get it off.

If all else fails just weld an extension onto it and take it off that way. That way you don't need to replace a broken stud. Never tried it but just a thought.

If there's room, get an impact socket one size smaller and hammer it over the entire lug/lock. The just twist it right off or break it clean with downward leverage.

you can torch it off without fucking anything up

I think it's funny that so many people's suggestions on this forum involve torches and/or welders.

How many people actually have access to them though?

TWO so far.. but torches are very readily available, unlike welders.

try the lug outs from craftman.
if you can fit them in your rims.
if not take a punch and try to turn it free.

craftsmen easy out sockets found at sears DONE! just make sure u get the set thats large enough for your lug nuts

Or if you have paperwork for the lug nut set, Nissan can get you a new key depending how broken or stuck the old key is in the actual lock nut.

It started to rain and get dark so I gave up for today. I tried to drill it out with a titanium bit and a corded drill. I was hoping it would crack, but all it did was make a hole in it. Should I keep drilling and break the stud?

If not I'm going to have to tow my car somewhere to get it torched off since I can't drive it (no brake pressure in lines)...ugh...

use the Grab it. As seen on tv. hahaha!!! Dont know if they make one this big though.
