i saw 2 items on ebay about electronic turbo,they said that it can help you gaining 50hp,i was wondering if it really works,also had anyone hv it installed on their 240sx??

It is physically impossible for it to work.  Do a search on FA and here for electric turbos.  I don't really feel like going into it, but it would draw entirely too much current for it to compress air.
Also, it's not quite false advertising.  It only makes a claim of CFM of air.  Fans are also rated in CFM.  But no-where does it make a claim of psi it can produce.

they work at killing ur alternator.....seriously tho....it is possible for an electric turbo to wokr..but it would be much larger then that....plus it would be burned out every easy and molest and sodomize ur alternator &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':crazy:'>

Just think about it as hooking up a leaf blower to your intake, just doesn't seem right does it? Well, that's because it's not and these things don't work.

It's NOT possible. &nbsp;It wouldn't be able to draw enough current to make power, and I'm sure it doesn't spin near 100k rpm. &nbsp;It *may* help low end, by pushing air, or at least sucking for the engine, but at high end, it would just get in the way.

You are all wrong. &nbsp;I was just about to list "elctrc trbo", and "7.87/178mph" to my list of mods below, but I decided to respond to this this thread, instead. &nbsp;

They are for real, I swear!! &nbsp;I bolted one up to my 240, and ran 7's, easy as that!!

They use those same "turbos" to cool the legend race cars. &nbsp;Just thought that was kinda interesting.

the reason the "turbos" are manufactured is to vent the engine compartment on boats. &nbsp;if you want to try one, they are about $19.99 at your local boat store

you seem pretty sure, can you back this up with a power cycle? I haven't tried to run an auto cycle w/ an electric turbo and wouldn't discount it without it.

Edit: thinking about it though, by the time you convert mechanical work to electrical energy and back again w/ todays alternator/motor efficiencies you're down to ~ %50;
so I'd agree that it's PROBABLY not possible to get significant Hp boost w/ an electric unit; but again it's impossible to know for certain even after doin' up a power cycle.

ouch, that must have hurt.

Anything that promises huge gains in HP with reletively small amounts of money is bullshit... it's as simple as that.
