well, I have been wanting to lower my 93 240 for a while now, and I was talking to my friend about it, and he told me that it would be unsafe and not that smart to get just the lowering springs and not the shocks also...

Is it true that I need the shocks and the springs together? Anybody just have the springs?

EDIT:  Also, where is the best place to buy springs and shocks online?

Yes, it's a good idea to get both, and remember, different springs go well with different shocks. You can lower on the stock shocks, but you'll eventually blow your shocks and have to buy new ones anyway. Plus, if you are lowering for the handling performance, your shocks play a big role. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/alien.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':alien:'>

I saw some sprint lowering springs, 1.8" on front and back, and they are only 135 from HERE (http://secure7.mavweb.net/advancemotoring/product.asp?cat=Lowering+Spring&make=240SX++++++++++++++++++++&brand=all&makename=loweringmake1.asp&bbname=Nissan+++++++++++++++++++&Submit=View), are these springs any good? and what shocks go best with em?

i have the sprints and i like them..... u should do the shocks and springs together cuz the stock shocks will probably blow with lowering springs and since u have to pay for labor.... just do it together and dont pay for labor 2 times

And don't forget about the bounciness you get with underdampened suspension. . .

Factory shocks are way too weak to leave on there, you probably do not wanna do that unless you aren't interested in getting the best of your car. Supposedly, Tokico blues and Koni yellows pair well with everything, from what I've heard. I've heard a few horror stories about KYB GR2s, while the AGX is supposedly not a bad shock at all.

i've heard nothing but good things about the koni yellows. whether it's a 240, civic, teg, crx, etc...

Koni Yellows = big money.

A friend picked up Koni Reds, and they felt pretty damn good, and the price is a little more right.

the reason why koni yellows are more expensive is because they're adjustable... IIRC, the reds are not. KYB AGX are adjustable as well.
