Trying to order tires for 17x9 Blitz Rims, what size tires would fit best for this?? I DID search, couldn't find an answer. If there's a sticky or something, maybe someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance. :-/

what are the offsets?? really its its hurtbag and between +25 - +40 you can run a 225 45 or maybe bigger. if its a lower offset (around +10 run a 215/45)

now the problem with rubber is certain rubbers won't stretch like others. i learned this the hard way. both my friend and I mounted 215/45 on out 17x9 and mine didn't stretch close to what his did. i am running federal 595's and he is running falken ze512's

but you could refer to the wheel fitment whore thread. thats what i did, pictures are deciving

offset and how low your car is might help but 225/40 or 45 is a safe bet.

I am going to run the elite wheels (17x9 +15) from phase2 with 235 front and 275 back.

I run 245/40/17 Kumho Ecsta MX all the way around on 17x9 +17 Work Emotions.....Have fenders rolled in front and back, lowered maybe 1.8" in back and 2.5" front, and don't rub at all.

They are really good tires for the money, around $130 apiece or maybe a bit less, and you can rotate if you don't stagger.

Word.

By the way 245/40/17 gives essentially same overall tire height as stock tires (205/55/16).

Okay you need to ask when you asking these question:
What car you got I'm guessing a S13.
Wheels size and offset.
Body mods. aka if your going roll your fenders, pull, overfender, etc. etc.
or if you don't wanna stretch a tire on to the tire.
Also how low you want to go.

If you don't post these then we're just all going to post different stuff and be able to give you a straight answer.

This is a the wheel fitment thread. Find your offset and search for it.

And this is my old favorite

You need to search more with the right offsets.

I am running 255/40/17's on my 17x9 +20 frno1r-c's. I had to roll/pull the fenders. My car is NOT slammed, it is set-up for track not looks.

Stock body S13, no roll, no pull. Drop, about 1.5-1.75 all around. And wheels are 17x9 wih +22 offset.

Ill say if you dont want to roll/pull and want to run wider rubber for grip, 235/245 40/17 is widest id go up front. With maybe 245/255 40/17 in the rear with no roll/pull. Ive got 245/40/17s on 17x9+20 -2.25 camber and it rubs my fenders in hard corners. I got 255/40/17 on 17x9.5 in the rear on -1.5 camber and i cant lower the car anymore or it rubs bad and i got "1 - 2" between the tire and fender. but the fron has maybe half inch between tire and fender.

Please oh please don't get kumho mx's. Those tires feel like bricks when you turn. As in, they don't turn and they suck.

For 130 a tire, get 595 RS's, hankook rsz212's, or falken azenis rt615. All are around that price range and a much better tire.

My buddy had those mx's on the track and street and they were absolutely horrible. I felt scared in his car when he had them on. Taking a corner and hearing massive screeching like the tire was dying.

For tire sizes, normal sizes would be 235/40/ 17 up front with a 245/40 or 255/40 in back. You could also do like jspaeth said and get 245/40/17 all the way around.

You mean to tell me that NOBODY in the "wheel fitment whore thread" (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=129865) is running 17x9 wheels?

I dunno my car responds amazingly well to steering input with these tires, but then again, I've never tried any other kinds, so I may be missing out!

Well I rode in his car when he had the stock advans and it was quite a different car. It was like going from an evo(with advans) to a 95 stock corolla (with mx's). I was shocked at how quick his car was with advans and how dangerous it felt without them. It just seems they lack overall grip by kumho designing them to last rather than to all out perform.

Kuhmo MXs are fine. They have loads of grip. loved using them outback.

I'll probably run 245/40 MXs on the front when I get my car back up and going.

I may try out these A032Rs a friend gave me too.

oh yeah, My car IS slammed, it is set-up for track and looks.

gayyyyyyyyyy.

lol, I got everything from 245/40/17 to 245/40/18, but the crownpeice of the collection some 275/40/17 A032s

total zilvia fake racecar spare no expense sidewall, but I got them for free and they should grip like hell. Kinda chomping at the bit to put them out back and use them to stallown my transmission.

You absolutely have to at least roll the lips to make it look good. Without a pull and with rolled fender lips I would say 235/40/17's should fit pretty good, maybe 225's though.

I'm not exactly sure HOW to roll, nor do i have the gear at home. I'm gonna search and look into it. Can't be that hard right? I'm a freakin jet mechanic, got some basic mechanicall ability, sould be able to pull off a fender roll... :jerkit:
I do agree, it looks alot better with a roll. That however, is a whole different issue.

Oh, F that. I thought it was better than that. It seems like there are mixed reviews with these tires. Oh well, throw in a grain of salt.

For a cheap roll, use a big pipe...something like a driveshaft. A heat gun and a pipe + 5 minutes = done.

racepar1
03-16-2008, 08:07 PM
I would rent a fender roller, actually I did rent a roller. Use a hammer to begin to roll the lips over. Then bolt the rolling tool to the hub and heat up the lip with a heat gun. Roll away! Just be sure to keep the metal warm as you're rolling the lips. It should only take an hour or so for all 4.

EDIT: Hey it's my 1000th post! :w00t: YAY! LOL!

F:225/40, R:235/40.... perfect in my opinion. the difference in side wall is 4mm, practically nothing.

^ whats the point of that? at least if you keep the sizes the same you can rotate and get a little more life out of them.

I know.. not only are most lazy and dont search, do their own research on their car and stuff, they are cheap and dont want to pay for quality parts.
It gives the s chassis a bad name.. Alot of people say the rx7, 3000gt vr4, and supras are expensive to build, thats why they buy a 240, a honda, subaru, or anything else.. If you do your research!! You find the right places to buy from. You can buy quality parts, Its all about the same price no matter what car you build.. (with some exception, SLR, VIPER, LAMBO, PORSCHE, etc..)

QUIT BEING SO LAZY PEOPLE, READ UP ON STUFF.. GET A MAGAZINE, GOOGLE SEARCHES, SEARCH ON HERE,
QUIT ASKING PEOPLE, AND LEARN IT FOR YOURSELF.
IF ALL ELSE FAILS, WATCH FAST AND FURIOUS.. THEY CAN ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS!!!
^^TOTALLY JOKING ON THE F&F THING^^

CAN WE LOCK IT UP NOW?
PLEASE? THIS SH*T IS POINTLESS.
