well, i am looking to purchase some coilovers for my S14 and i was wondering which coilovers are the best. i am looking for something with adjustable dampers so that i can drive on the street and then take it out to Autocross and stiffen it up. Possible candidates i have considered are Tein Type-HA, JIC FLT-A2, HKS Hipermax II, and ZEAL B6. can anyone offer some good suggestions or tell about personal experiences with any of these or other coilovers? thanks

It depends on what you want to do. For normal performance driving that wont give you a harsh ride I would say Tein HA. If you are into drifting I would say go with Tein HE or the JIC's. If you are into drag I would go with the HKS's. For more agressive stuff go with the Zeals or Apexi N1 because they have really stiff springs. If you dont really want to get into coilovers i would go with a good shock/spring set up like Tokico HTS with Kg/mm S21 supersports

Modacar.com has the Teins for $1050, seems like a pretty good price

does anyone know the spring rates for any coilovers? by the way, i want the suspension primarily for autocross/track/drift use, not street.

The only warning is that Modacar tends to never have anything they sell. They will gladly take payment and ship it... one day... maybe... if you don't decide to cancel the order first.

I think most of the listed set-ups are 8kg/mm to 10kg/mm. The more "steetable" versions are 6kg/mm.

I have JIC specs:

SF1- 7K/5K
FLT2- 8K/6K
FLTA2- 10K/7K

well, i think i have pretty much narrowed it down to JIC FLT-A2 or ZEAL Function B-6. i know that the ZEAL has a choice of 2 different sets of springs, street and circuit. Does anyone know the difference? im just worried that if i get street, it might be too soft, or if i get circuit, it might be too stiff. my instincts are tellin me to go circuit hehe...

I have HKS Coilovers on my s14, and the mofos are stiff as fell.

I will be getting Zeal B-6's once I can get enough money for them. They are the best IMHO. I will probly be getting the softer street option. And then focus on stiffening the frame.

Here is the info for the B-6's

STREET
Year F/R (kg/mm) F/R(lbs/in)
89-94 6/5 336/280
95-97 6/4 336/224

CIRCUIT
Year F/R (kg/mm) F/R(lbs/in)
89-94 8/7 448/392
95-97 8/6 448/336
