Like the show, expect lots of tuner-based racing. Don't get your hopes up, though. The PS3 release looks to be inspired by the arcade coin-op version. As in the case with all anime licensed games, it's smart to keep hopes low for the PS3 version. Maybe that way, we'll be taken by surprise at how the final product performs.

sony is smart, they know what pushes people to buy their ridiculously priced PS3 by selling games like Initial D.

Was on ps2, just not in the states ... I'll be buying it for sure.

The screen shot pictured above is for the PS2 Initial D

Each time they have brought over the game to the PS consoles, it's a direct port of the arcade version with a couple extra modes and an extra track or two. If you like the arcade Initial D ver.4 you'll like the game.

i played the new arcade one the other day. blows the other ones away... the drift feels real now

Yeah, I played the arcade version when i was in Jersey for IAS. By far the best "drifting" simulation Ive played. Plus it has touge as well as city drifting. Im hopin they dont totally destroy this game when the convert it to ps3. :x:

I remember first watching Initial D in like 2001, and it has been one of my favorite animes ever since. I play the arcade game and its pretty much the same as this, although I am not all that impressed with the PS3 version.
