Hey guys,

Car is a 89 SOHC and I am putting in the harness with the starter and alternator and can't figure out what plug this is to or where it goes, on top of that of course it's the last plug:loco:

VSS. The lead is hanging at the opposite end of the transmission.

yup looks like the speedo.

should just leave it unplugged to maintain the value of your car with the mileage. haha.

Thanks, that was it. I just went outside to look at the AT and there it was. Do you know if the VSS off of the AT work on the MT?

LOL, I swear it only has 168K pristine miles and runs like new.

Yes they should both work.
The only differences are between the single cam and dual cam engines.

No. The gear is larger on the auto unit and will not fit in the manual transmission case.

Ok guys,

I ended up picking up a S13 KA VSS for a MT and got the car running tonight, I took it for a test drive and found that my speedo is not working. I am running a S14 KA 5spd transmission and was wondering if running a S13 KA 5spd VSS is the reason that the speedo isn't working?

I was under the impression that if you had a S13 car you needed a S13 VSS and vice versa.

Correct. The VSS must match the cluster, nothing else. As for it not working, check continuity from the plug you were looking at and the cluster.
