so I got a cel couple days ago and today I went to Schuck to borrow a diagnostic tool. However, they only have OBD-II connection so I couldn't fit into the plug behind the fuse cover, I just found out that that plug is for Nissan Consult, so where do I borrow/rent a nissan consult tool?

I think my s14 is OBD-I so the plug is under the glove box right? where can I borrow a OBD-I tool? thanks all please help.

you dont need a tool to pull/ read codes if thats what youre thinking. all you need to do is pull your ecu out from the kick panel and read the blinking leds. search.

What kind of 240sx is it? s13 or s14? If its s14 you are in luck because they have OBDII connectors and colsult port. The OBDII Port is located in the right side of the center console, right next to the radio. If its an s13 you will need a consult or you can get codes by using the ecu, there is a post about this. GOOD LUCK

WOW, I am nissan and infiniti tech and I know my sh**T!
A 95 240sx is a crossover year, that means the vehicle was obdI but with a OBDI and OBDII port. The car is not completely OBDII. The OBDII port is located in the right side of the console. Please CHECK!!

yeah, I found the OBD-II port on the right side under the glove box, I borrow Schuck tool and run system check but the tool only do OBD-II. So after the test, the tool gave me code P0705 and a bunch of system is not supported so I don't know what does P0705 is and if it's a right code at all because mine is OBD-I . So where can I get a OBD-I tester or a consult tool? thanks

Also, Juls213, does nissan dealership read codes for free? thanks

You have an Auto Tranny? The Gear sector switch on the side of the tranny is not reporting the gear.

no, I have a manual tranny. What? so the code is saying my gear sector is faulty when I don't have an auto?

Although, I don't think mine is a tranny conversion, how do check?

If it is a conversion, how come it didn't throw the code before until now?

Look to see what Tranny is listed on the firewall. Pop off the panel and see what ECU you have.

so on the firewall, it will say whether I should have auto or manual?

also, what number on the ecu is for manual and what number is for auto?

thanks

so today I went and check under my hood. on the trans, it's not RE4R01A so I assume it's not auto from factory. So how come I get this cel about some auto sensor? how do I fix this?
