Lol the 13 will be pretty crazy, full built but and some suprises for exterior but it will still be super streetable. Full interior and no cage. Its super daily status. I already have all the parts for it so its getting done how I want it :)
You should come by! Hopefully srt will have another track day soon and we can kick it at the track. Cant wait till the new car is done but it will probably longer than I want because the season schedule is super crazy with International Allstars and Mazda so I will be busy almost every weekend starting in april. We will be at el toro on sun. you should come out!

Thanks guys yeah the motons are super nice, also cosworth powered formula atlantic motors, motec engine managment, tilton pedal boxes. The cars are built great. After we are done with setup and r&d they will be very competitive cars. Leon Styles is the new team manager and he is doing a great job of keeping the cars up to par. Lots of work ahead but it will pay off.

Yeah with mazda backing us and all those names like cosworth, moton, motec. Def. top notch parts on those cars and we are getting them dailed in. They will be amazing! They are already so much better than when they first went together. Build quality is great just need more fine tuning.

Thanks guys I cant wait till this car is done its been a labor of love, working 7 days a week because if I am not at work I am either driving or working on the cars, but when its done it will be worth it. After 2 other builds I know exactly what I want and know how to execute it. Learned from my past mistakes and this car should be perfect.

blu808
09-11-2008, 12:56 AM
I like megan coilovers.

They are one of the only companies that offers a shit load of different spring rate options. And if you ever wanna change its only like $200 for a new set of springs.

I back em.

Tein, hks, apexi are all real nice and legit as well. But with us being drifters and most of us spreading ourselves pretty thin I would consider Megan coilovers a bargain.

brainfood
09-11-2008, 11:41 AM
I hate megans, if you drive on real coilovers its night and day difference. Cfrost needed real coilovers before long beach so I sold him my superdrifts and am rocking his megans for the time being till I buy something else. Probably dg-5's but since the car isnt running its not a big deal just rollin on these for now.

Stock hood for now I will probably get dmax in the future but since I dont think I will run a spoiler I probably will run stock or stock style hood too. we will see. Installed the fenders wide for the s1's so the bersalgios will need a small spacer but the s1's will fit perfect with no spacers.

brainfood
10-28-2008, 08:41 PM
Well my blog has been down but I have made a lot of progress since my last post so figure I will just update this thread.

Got this the other day so I could do my intercooler and downpipe and dump tube.

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f399/brainfood1182/blog/IMG_2629.jpg

Didnt want to pay $350 for the full-race downpipe after I bought the wrong one the first time so I made this for under $100 will work just as good and look almost as good because you cant see the welds anyway since. Waiting on 3 bolt flange for the downpipe side and then I am going to cut my downpipe and extend it so I dont have to make a cat delete.

what engine management is going to controlling all this smoke?

make sure you get it tuned in steady state, a whole lot more spool up, throttle response and low end torque can be gained with cell by cell

Oushhhh Brogers! does this thing run now i havent seen you in like 3 months, and i miss you my friend...... lol cant wait to see it painted, you still doin it yourself or did you find a painter, the dude that painted my car would paint yours too i can ask him pricing, but knowing you, probably already found paint for free. Reminds me i still have your water pump i was supposed to see andrew last night since he has a prototype DP i gave him and is supposed to return it but he didnt end up coming by hopefully, he will today. Anyways the car looks great.

I know new job and you dont hang out anymore. :) Car cant run with no water pump ;) I need to get my intercooler piping welded up. I fab'd it but need someone to weld it. I may buy some wire for the mig and see if I can make it work but since the wire is so soft and I dont have an aluminum adapter gun end thing I dont know how its going to go. Chris is going to paint it, I want to do it myself but he wont let me. Since I have done everything else myself and will do pretty much everything myself I really wanted to paint it. But its easy to just give it to Chris and have him do it. I am going to build my own cage pretty sure and since I painted the engine bay and will paint the interior at least I did some painting on the car.

That truck is crazy nice but it doesnt go anywhere. Its all chrome and painted underneath its cool. But useless.

yeah the extra response from a real tune would be nice. One step at a time and the rom tune dyno with similar setup was still more power and earlier than a 2871 so I'm sure it will be great while I sort the chassis and then probably the head then if I get rid of the maf I need a new compressor housing. Just a lot of $ to think about would rather have a lot of other stuff at the moment.

question tho. How do you go about doing this the legal way for FD rules?
i was pretty sure i read you cant tie in a cage from the strut towers to the rear of the car. But i see all the pro's with basically what u doing.........and if i was positive on how to go about it ,.. i'd do it!

brainfood
08-16-2010, 10:46 AM
The cage down tubes have to go to the chassis somewhere so they have to go to the strut towers in the rear or somewhere on the chassis. A lot of people used to run the cage down tubes to the strut tower bar (me included) but as of this year that is no longer legal. You can tube everything behind the rear most suspension mounts. Everything in between the front and rear subframe/suspension mounts has to stay stock. In front and behind that is okay.

Just perused the blog, very fun build. I did see something that made me wonder, and you may have already thought of this: A gutted deck lid is just as flimsy as fiberglass if not worse. So will you be bracing the wing from the tubing under the deck lid?

brainfood
09-01-2010, 10:57 AM
Yeah thats the reason the top bar is triangulated becasue the wing will be supported off the top bar. Its very strong i can jump on it where the wing mounts to the decklid.

Short block assembled « Seriousbadass.com (http://seriousbadass.wordpress.com/2010/09/06/short-block-assembled/)

Was gone to San Fran last weekend so I have not done too much to the Skyline. Assembled the motor before I left though.

Small stuff here and there « Seriousbadass.com (http://seriousbadass.wordpress.com/2010/09/19/small-stuff-here-and-there/)

Not too much this weekend, I ended up welding a bunch of aluminum for Bruiser and I ran out of parts so I didnt get too much done. Still waiting on some gaskets and my head back from Port Flow before final assembly and then I can put the motor in the car and wire it and start of the vmount and tube front.

Made an exhaust for the Q, its a fun car to drive the V8 is a lot of fun. Really had me contemplating it for the R32 but since the SR is already built and ready to go I will wait and enjoy the SR for a while :)

Those are 20ga terminals (38999-series?), fine for engine harness, but don't go hooking your fans up through them lol.
