oil problems

well i just bought a used oil pump for my sr and after installing it i tried to prime the oil but i get no oil to the top of the motor.can anyone tell me what else it can be i have no dents in my oil pan and my pick up tube has no holes in it or dents.when i bought the motor it hade a rod knock from the rod bearing which was caused by the oil pump going out i think or no oil.anyways i need help figuring out what my peroblem is

first problem why by a USED oil pump

its like the heartbeat to your motor.

do you even know if the pump is good still?

^^^ +1 Hopefully its not another doo-doo pump. Besides why would you trust a used part that could potentially cause your engine to blow.

Anyways, drop the pan and check the pickup. Where the pickup connects to the bottom of the pump, theres a rubber seal. If you lost that seal when you re-installed the pump, you wont get much pressure.
